What are the properties of Calendula officinalis

Calendula Ointment can be used for the local treatment of superficial wounds, abrasions and inflammation of the skin. The ointment has an anti-inflammatory and healing action. It activates the normal irrigation of the skin as well as the formation of granulation tissue.

Its effect is due to an extract of the medicinal plant Calendula officinalis (marigold).

Calendula officinal has many therapeutic properties and its external use in herbal medicine is increasingly supplanting internal use.

In external use, Calendula is traditionally used:

  • in cosmetics, calendula is particularly appreciated for treating skin problems: irritation, redness, inflammation of the skin (psoriasis, eczema, acne ...), itching, cradle cap in infants, cracks appearing during breastfeeding ....
  • in dermatology, in the context of external lesions , calendula not only soothes wounds, sunburns, minor burns, but it also heals them. It also has the effect of naturally regenerating the skin.

Wasp stings, self-healing with natural methods

22/06/2021 Naturopathy

Wasps belong to the order Hymenoptera. Endowed with a sting, they also belong to the suborder of the Apocrites. In wasps, females, i.e. workers and queens, can sting. Species that compete with humans in their foraging also sting occasionally. In reality these insects bite especially to defend themselves against other hymenoptera, for example when they loot the nest or want to capture adult animals. The common wasp, the Saxon wasp and the German wasp are the most common wasps living in colonies and the ones we encounter most often. They often set up their nests in dry and warm places, for example in attics or in roller shutter boxes. They feed mainly on sugars and juices (sugar water,...

Homeopathy in recurrent urinary tract infections

14/12/2021 Homeopathy

Recurrent episodes of bacteriuria , sometimes with pyuria and proteinuria , with or without cystitis , dysuria or pollakiuria, are called repeated urinary infections . When the infections are localized in the upper urinary tract, the general signs (fever, chills, sweating, depression, etc.) are predominant; the pains are more readily at the level of the renal pits . Signs of lower urinary tract involvement are sometimes absent. The bacteria most often responsible for these disorders are Escherichia coli , Proteus mirabilis and Staphylococcus aureus. These conditions affect women more frequently than men, as well as adults rather than children or adolescents. In this article, we will cover...

Acute laryngitis and tracheitis are attacks of dry cough , of rapid installation, isolated or inaugurating an infectious episode, febrile or not , due to an inflammatory reaction of the upper airways . Some forms are of dystonic origin. Homeopathic medicines are chosen from those whose pathogenesis corresponds to this first stage of inflammation. Calendula Officinalis, the calendar garden marigold

07/04/2022 Medicinal plants and herbal medicine

In ancient Greece, Theophrastus and Dioscorides spoke of a plant called Klymenos . At the same time, among the Romans ( Virgil , Pliny , Columella …), the case of Caltha is mentioned. Some writers who are not very informed have wanted to see in these two names the concern . If the first of these terms is forgotten, confusion over the second term persisted for so long that in the 16th century Jean Bauhin designated garden marigold with the Latin name Caltha vulgaris , while another caltha, Caltha palustris is nicknamedconcern for marshes, concern for water … A little history From the end of the 8th century, we indeed find marigolds named solsequia in the Capitular of Villis , a word...
