What is Keto Cole Gel used for in the prevention of hypertrophic scars and keloids?
Kelo-cote adheres to the stratum corneum (the outermost layer of the epidermis), creating a protective barrier against chemical, physical, and microbial invasion of the scar while helping to keep it hydrated.
This creates an environment that allows the scar to heal with normalized collagen synthesis and improves the scar’s physiological and aesthetic appearance.
Well-tolerated, KELO-COTE gel reduces scar redness, softens and flattens raisedscars, and relieves itching and pain associated with scars.
Kelo-Cote dries quickly to form a silicone film; this silicone gel film is gas-permeable, flexible, and water-resistant.
ALLIANCE Kelo-Cote Scar Gel is indicated for the treatment of old and new scars, including hypertrophic and keloid scars, resulting from surgery, trauma, wounds, and burns.
Kelo-Cote can be used on joints, skin folds, hairy areas, and extensive scars such as those resulting from burns or major trauma.
Kelo-Cote can be used in combination with compression garments or other scar treatment options.

How do you use this scar treatment?
Reduce and relieve scars. When used as directed, Kelo-Cote flattens, softens, and lightens scars, relieves itching and discomfort associated with scars, and reduces their discoloration.
Apply twice daily to a clean, dry scar. Allow to dry for 4 to 5 minutes, then remove any excess.
Tips for Drying Kelo-cote
The drying process for Kelo-cote is facilitated by the temperature difference between the gel and the skin.
To reduce drying time in hot weather, store Kelo-cote in the refrigerator.
In cold weather, use a hair dryer on a low setting to reduce drying time.
For maximum effectiveness, Kelo-Cote should remain in contact with the skin for 24 hours.
Once dry, Kelo-Cote can be covered with compression garments, sunscreen, or cosmetics.
Recommended treatment duration
2 to 3 months. Treatment of larger and older scars may take longer, and it is recommended to continue treatment if improvements are still observed after the first 3 months.

Our expert pharmacy advice for Kelo-cote gel
Keloid scars are inflammatory scars that appear thick, hardened, and raised. This condition is caused by an overproduction of collagen in the dermis during the repair of connective tissue, or when fibrous scar tissue replaces normal skin tissue. This overproduction is accompanied by excessive growth of dermal cells called fibroblasts. This unsightly overgrowth of the dermis can occur following skin trauma, an initial injury, shingles, a burn, folliculitis, certain skin conditions such as acne, scarring from a vaccination, or after an incision or surgical procedure. Keloid scars are sometimes painful and can cause itching and irritation.
