Stress, heavy meals or eating on the run, parties with a little too much to drink... our lifestyles tend to put a strain on the stomach, leading to heartburn and acid reflux. Trivial but annoying symptoms, they can really spoil everyday life. Let's take a look at some of these little gastric worries...
Acid reflux, heartburn... These are two typical symptoms of gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD). GERD occurs when some of the acidic contents of the stomach back up into the esophagus. The stomach is lined with mucus to protect it from acidity, but the esophagus is unprotected: in the event of acid reflux, the sensations will be most unpleasant.
Description of Nexium control 20 mg heartburn
Nexium Control 20mg (inexium without prescription) is a medicine used for the short-term treatment of symptoms of gastro-oesophageal reflux disease. Nexium 20mg gastro-resistant tablets relieve heartburn and acid regurgitation.
Nexium Control is similar to a "reference drug" already authorized in the European Union (EU), containing the same active ingredient, called Inexium.
The reference drug is available by prescription only, but Nexium Control is intended for short-term use without a prescription.
Properties of Nexium Control 20mg
Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD ) is the backflow of acid from the stomach into the esophagus, which can become inflamed and painful.
Pfizer's Nexium Control 20mg is a gastro-resistant tablet for short-term treatment of heartburn and reflux symptoms (e.g. pyrosis, acid regurgitation) in adults.
Just one gastro-resistant tablet a day relieves symptoms such as a burning sensation in the chest rising to the throat (pyrosis), epigastric (central stomach) pain peaks before or after meals, and a sour taste in the mouth (acid regurgitation).
How to use inexium-Nexium Control
- The recommended dosage is one gastro-resistant tablet of Nexium Control 20 mg per day for a maximum of 7 to 14 days.
- Depending on the severity of gastric disorders (heartburn, gastroesophageal reflux, pyrosis or acid regurgitation), Nexium Control gastro-resistant tablets must be taken for at least 2 or 3 consecutive days to achieve relief.
- Once symptoms have disappeared, treatment should be discontinued.
- If symptoms persist after the maximum duration of treatment, consult your doctor.
To relieve GERD symptoms (heartburn, heartburn and acid reflux) quickly, or in the case of recent, occasional or infrequent symptoms (less than once a week), other treatments may be more appropriate, such as antacids like Rennie or gavisconell.
Precautions for use
All drugs which reduce gastric acidity(Mopralpro or Nexium) are likely to reduce the absorption of vitamin B12 from food sources. However, they do not interfere with the absorption of vitamin B12-based supplements, which are recommended for people on chronic antacid therapy such as Nexium.
