Forlax 10g 20 bags on sale in our pharmacy bio, is indicated for the treatment of constipation in adults and children over 8 years.

FORLAX 10G 20 SACHETS

For warnings, precautions for use and contraindications, please consult the instructions for use.

Osmotic laxative based on macrogol 4000, FORLAXLIB 10 g powder for oral solution, is available in pharmacies.

Some people, however, complain of constipation when they do not fit into this framework. For example, if they have a bowel movement three or four times a week, suffer from pain in defecation, or if their periods of constipation last less than a month but are repeated several times a year. In this case, the treatment will not be that of constipation, but that of the causes of complaints: in the case of pain, we can thus evoke hemorrhoids or anal fissures. It is also sometimes useful to remember that our body has its own rhythm, and that if the bowel movement is not done as often as we would like, it is not necessarily a disease!

Description of Forlax 10g 20 Sachets

Forlax 10g 20 Sachets contains an osmotic laxative . It increases the amount of water in the feces, which helps to solve the problems due to a slowed intestinal transit . Forlax is not absorbed into the bloodstream and is not changed in the body. It is indicated for the treatment of constipation in adults and children over the age of 8 years. The treatment of constipation with a drug should be combined with rules of healthy living and a healthy diet.

Indications of FORLAX ADULT 10GR Constipation 10 SACHETS

FORLAXLIB is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of occasional constipation in adults, in addition to advice on dietetics. It must be used as an adjunct to the hygieni dietetic treatment. This is based on an enrichment of the diet with vegetable fibers and drinks; an adapted physical activity and rehabilitation of the exemption.

Properties of FORLAX

PEG or macrogol, osmotic laxatives without colonic fermentation
Osmotic laxatives increase the hydration of the stools by calling up water in the colonic lumen. The stool is more easily passed . They are abundant and soft.
They are recommended in 1st intention as an alternative to ballast laxatives. The effect begins 24 to 48 hours after taking the medication.

PEG or macrogol are mixtures of high molecular weight polyethylene glycol (PEG) polymers. They also cause a call of intra-intestinal water but are neither absorbed nor the object of fermentation , unlike the laxative polyols (lactulose, sorbitol and lactitol).
With equal osmotic load, the laxative effect of PEGs is therefore usually higher and without induction of colonic fermentation, potentially causing abdominal pain, bloating or flatulence .

Directions for use and dosage

  • The dosage is 1 to 2 sachets per day, preferably in the morning.
  • The powder is to be dissolved in water, just before administration.
  • Treatment should be taken over a short period.
  • Medical advice is required if symptoms do not improve after one week of treatment.

The causes of constipation are multiple and most often not serious. And, fortunately, simple lifestyle measures are often very effective in dealing with this very feminine condition.
Some constipation is caused by a slowdown in the progression of food along the colon (large intestine). In others, there are difficulties in evacuating stool from the rectum (terminal part of the colon) and anus ("terminal constipation").

Our advice and opinions from pharmacy experts

Constipation can be either transitory (or progression), that is, the stool stagnates for too long in the colon, or terminal (or evacuation), that is, it s 'accumulate in the rectum. The 2 problems can coexist in the same person.

What are the causes of constipation?

Two mechanisms are most often involved:

  • A "laziness" of the large intestine : the tube contracts little or badly and the stools progress slowly;
  • "Drying" of the stools : the colon wall has, among other functions, that of reabsorbing the water present in the faeces. In the absence of regular and sufficient hydration, this reabsorption of water in the large intestine can lead to the formation of hard and dry faeces, making their elimination difficult.

Buckthorn for occasional constipation

Buckthorn grows in the humid forests of Europe. It is the dried bark of the buckthorn tree (frangula alnus) which is used to fight against constipation. Thus, intestinal muscle tissue is stimulated to promote the arrival of stool in the colon. Buckthorn also hydrates dry stools in the colon, which promotes their expulsion.

GLOSSARY (summary)

osmotic laxative
Laxative to make stools more liquid by retaining water in the contents of the intestine. It is devoid of toxicity.

edema
Accumulation of water or lymph causing localized swelling.

allergic reaction
Reaction due to hypersensitivity of the organism to a drug. Allergic reactions can take a wide variety of aspects: urticaria, angioedema, eczema, eruption of pimples resembling measles, etc. Anaphylactic shock is a generalized allergic reaction that causes discomfort due to a sudden drop in blood pressure.

overdose
Excessive intake of a drug may result in an increase in the intensity of adverse effects or even in the development of specific adverse effects.
This overdose may result from accidental or voluntary poisoning for suicide, so consult your local Poison Control Center (listed in the appendix to the book). However, in most cases, overdose is the result of an error in the understanding of the prescription, or the search for an increase in efficacy by exceeding the recommended dosage. Finally, untimely self-medication may lead to excessive absorption of the same substance contained in different drugs. Some drugs are particularly prone to this risk because they are (wrongly) considered to be harmless: vitamins A and D, aspirin, etc. Stopping or decreasing drug intake helps to remove the disorders associated with an overdose.

symptomatic treatment
Treatment that suppresses or alleviates the symptoms of a disease without addressing its cause.

urticaria
Eruption of pimples on the skin, whose origin is mostly allergic. The buds look like nettles and their color varies from pale pink to red.
