Ylang-ylang totum Bio (Cananga odorata) Pranarom essential oil, recommended in pharmacies for its antidepressant, sedative and nerve-relaxing properties.

What is Ylang-ylang totum Bio Pranarom essential oil used for?

Native to Asia, this tropical tree with glossy evergreen leaves grows to a height of 20 metres in the wild. Its mature yellow flowers produce the finest essential oil. Ylang-ylang provides an essential oil whose fragrance is universally appreciated for its warm, floral, exotic, round and feminine notes. It's hardly surprising that it's one of the essential oils that, through olfaction, can modify human behavior.

Traditionally reputed for its :

  • antidepressant, sedative, nerve relaxant
  • hypotensive, antiarrhythmic
  • sexual tonic, aphrodisiac
  • antispasmodic

Deep sedative and anxiolytic properties

Ylang-ylang Totum Bio essential oil from Pranarom stands out for its powerful sedative and anxiolytic properties, supported by clinical studies. When used by inhalation, this oil has shown a remarkable ability to reduce stress, observable by the reduction of cortisol in the blood. This action also extends to blood pressure regulation, offering a significant benefit for patients suffering from hypertension. Applied to the skin, it is capable of lowering heart and respiratory rates, offering a natural and effective approach to stress management. Ylang-ylang essential oil works to promote general relaxation of body and mind, relieving tension and providing a feeling of well-being and euphoria.

Natural repellent and cardioregulatory effect

In addition to its sedative effects, Ylang-ylang essential oil plays a crucial role as a natural repellent against mosquitoes, particularly those carrying dengue fever. Although its insecticidal and ovicidal action is moderate, it remains an effective and natural means of prevention against these disease vectors. Its effectiveness as a cardiac sedative is particularly noteworthy. When inhaled, it reduces symptoms of tachycardia and palpitations and lowers blood pressure, contributing to better cardiovascular balance.

Antimicrobial and skin regulator

Ylang-ylang oil also has antimicrobial properties, effective against Gram-positive bacteria, and is recognized for its antifungal action, particularly against pathogens such as Aspergillus and Candida. Its impact on skin sebum regulation makes it a component of choice in skincare, particularly for those seeking to balance their sebum production and maintain healthy, radiant skin.

Extensive therapeutic benefits

This essential oil also offers a wide range of therapeutic benefits. It is effective in unblocking the cardio-respiratory plexus, particularly in cases of diaphragmatic blockage, and has balancing antispasmodic properties. Its hypotensive and analgesic effect provides short-term relief. Ylang-ylang oil also acts as a skin and hair tonic, protecting and revitalizing the skin and hair, particularly after treatments such as radiotherapy. Its aphrodisiac and sexual tonic properties stimulate general well-being, while its impact on the autonomic nervous system and its euphoric and antidepressant properties make it an invaluable ally in managing mood and mental well-being. Finally, its use in a 30% dilution in vegetable oil for foot massages is recognized in pain treatment centers, offering a natural and effective approach to pain relief.
