The essential oil of palmarosa has antifungal properties (higher activity than some reference antifungal; modification of the cell membrane of yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae - geraniol changes the composition of the cell membrane). It is antibacterial, bactericidal vis-a-vis Escherichia coli and antiviral activity. This essential oil is anthelmintic. It has anti-inflammatory action by increasing the production of IL-10 and immunomodulating activity. It is also an astringent, a moisturizer, a wound, a cell stimulant and an analgesic.
