MILBETEL DOG VERMIFUGE 2 TABLETS Biocanina

Milbetel laboratories Biocanina Dog is a versatile broad spectrum wormer for dogs weighing more than 5kg. It is for the treatment of mixed infections by immature and adult stages of tapeworms (tapeworms) and nematodes (roundworms) include:

  • Tapeworms (flatworms): Dipylidium caninum, Taenia spp, E. multilocularis
  • Nematodes (roundworms): tubaeforme Ancylostoma, Toxocara cati

Thanks to its innovative formula, Milbetel Dogs is also used for the prevention of heartworm disease (Dirofilaria immitis), if concomitant treatment against cestodes is indicated.

Properties Milbetel Dog Wormer 2 Tablets

The milbemycin oxime belongs to the group of macrocyclic lactones produced by fermentation of Streptomyces hygroscopicus var. aureolacrimosus. It is active against mites, larval and adult stages of nematodes and against heartworm larvae.
The activity of milbemycin is related to its action on invertebrate neurotransmission: milbemycin oxime, like avermectins and other milbemycins, increases in nematodes and insect membrane permeability to chloride ions via glutamate chloride channels dependent (related to glycine and GABAA receptors in vertebrates). This leads to hyperpolarization of the neuromuscular membrane and flaccid paralysis and death of the parasite.

Praziquantel is an acetylated derivative of the pyrazino-isoquinoline. Praziquantel is active against cestodes and trematodes. It alters membrane permeability to calcium (Ca2 + influx) in the parasite, which causes an imbalance in the membrane structures, leading to membrane depolarization in muscle contractions (cramps) virtually instantaneous and rapid vacuolization of the syncytial tegument, responsible decomposition of testa (blisters). This facilitates the removal in the gastrointestinal tract and leads to death of the parasite.

Usage Tips Milbetel Dog Wormer

orally. minimum recommended dose: 0.5 mg of milbemycin oxime and 5 mg of praziquantel per kg of body weight given as a single dose orally.
The product should be administered with or after food.
The tablets are flavored with meat and are easy to administer (usually dogs and puppies agree to take voluntarily, even without food).

The Dog Wormer Milbetel should be administered during or after the meal, to allow optimum protection against heartworm disease. Depending on the weight of the dog, the dose to be administered is as follows:

  • Dogs from 5 to 25kg: 1 tablet
  • Dogs 25 to 50kg: 2 tablets
  • Dogs from 50 to 75kg: 3 tablets

Do not use tablets for dogs in dogs weighing less than 5 kg.

For the treatment of infections with Angiostrongylus vasorum, administered 4 times milbemycin oxime at weekly intervals. When concomitant treatment against cestodes is indicated, it is recommended to administer the product once and then continue treatment for the remaining three weeks with a monovalent product containing milbemycin oxime.
In endemic areas, if concomitant treatment against cestodes is indicated, administration of the product every 4 weeks helps prevent angiostrongyliasis reducing the parasite load in immature adults (L5) and adults.

For the treatment of infections with Thelazia callipaeda, milbemycin oxime should be given in two separate treatments of 7 days. If concomitant treatment against cestodes is indicated, the drug can replace the monovalent product containing milbemycin oxime alone.
