When should AdvanPro Combo be used for cats and ferrets?

Elanco’s AdvanPro Combo Spot-On for Cats and Ferrets is a veterinary medication intended for the treatment of infestations caused by external parasites. Its formula combines two complementary active ingredients to target adult parasites as well as certain developmental stages of fleas.

In cats, this spot-on solution is indicated for flea infestations, either alone or in combination with ticks and/or cheeseworms. It exerts an insecticidal effect against adult fleas and helps eliminate parasites already present on the animal. It may also be incorporated into a treatment program for flea bite allergy dermatitis, following veterinary advice.

For ferrets, the treatment is intended for flea infestations, either alone or in combination with ticks. A single 0.5-ml pipette contains the recommended dose for one animal, in accordance with the instructions on the package insert. Chewing lice are not included among the indicated uses for ferrets.

Fipronil acts on adult fleas, ticks, and, in cats, chewing lice. (S)-Methoprene complements this action by preventing the development of flea eggs, larvae, and pupae. This combination thus provides dual action against the flea life cycle and helps limit environmental contamination by immature fleas present in bedding, carpets, or fabrics.

The pipette format facilitates targeted application to the skin at the base of the neck. The contents should be applied directly to the skin, not just to the fur. To complete your cat’s internal parasite management, you can try Drontal Cat Dewormer by Vétoquinol. A dewormer is not a substitute for an external parasite treatment: consult a veterinarian or your pharmacist before combining multiple veterinary medications.

How do you use this flea and tick treatment pipette?

Directions for Use

Apply one 0.5-ml pipette directly to the skin at the base of the neck, between the shoulder blades.

Carefully part the fur until the skin is visible. Then empty the entire contents of the pipette onto the exposed area. The product must be applied exclusively to the skin.

Make sure the animal and other pets in the household do not lick the treated area until it is completely dry. Allow at least 4 weeks between applications.

After use, share your experience regarding the ease of application of the pipette and your pet’s tolerance of the product on Verified Reviews.

What are the active ingredients for treating external parasites?

Ingredients: Fipronil, (S)-Methoprene.

One 0.5-ml pipette contains: Fipronil 50 mg, (S)-Methoprene 60 mg.

Fipronil is an active ingredient with insecticidal and acaricidal properties. It is effective against fleas, ticks, and, in cats, chewing lice. (S)-Methoprene is an insect growth regulator that prevents the development of immature fleas.

Nutritional values do not apply to this veterinary medication.

Packaging: box of 3 pipettes, 0.5 ml each.

Our expert tips for controlling parasites

For effective antiparasitic action, always apply the contents of the pipette directly to the skin, not to the fur. In the event of a flea infestation, also treat the animal’s environment: thoroughly vacuum carpets, baseboards, sofas, and sleeping areas, then wash suitable fabrics at the appropriate temperature. Eggs and larvae can persist in the home and cause new infestations. Regularly examine the coat, especially around the neck, behind the ears, and at the base of the tail. The frequency of treatments should take into account the pet’s lifestyle, its exposure to parasites, and your veterinarian’s recommendations. Never administer two treatments less than 4 weeks apart, and do not combine multiple parasite treatments without professional advice.

Frequently Asked Questions About AdvanPro Combo

Does this pipette treat the same parasites in cats and ferrets?

No. For cats, it is indicated for fleas, ticks, and chewing lice. For ferrets, it is intended for the treatment of fleas and ticks.

Can the pipette be applied directly to the fur?

No. You must part the fur and apply the contents directly to the skin at the base of the neck between the shoulder blades. Applying it only to the fur may prevent the product from spreading properly.

When can the treatment be repeated?

The interval between applications must be at least 4 weeks. Follow the instructions and consult a veterinarian if parasites persist.

Can this product be used on a young animal?

It should not be used on kittens younger than 8 weeks or weighing less than 1 kg. It is also contraindicated for ferrets younger than 6 months.
