What is Novalac NovaBiotic used for?

Novalac NovaBiotic is a food for special medical purposes (FSMP) designed for infants and young children 6 months and older, as part of a varied diet. This formula may be used temporarily during an episode of diarrhea associated with antibiotic use.

Antibiotic treatments can alter the balance of the gut microbiota. NovaBiotic contains Saccharomyces boulardii, as well as a nutritional formula specifically tailored for this period.

Its composition combines:

• Saccharomyces boulardii;
• fruit purees, containing 12% banana and 2.8% apple;
• DHA (docosahexaenoic acid);
• ARA (arachidonic acid);
• vitamins and minerals;
• a lactose-free formula.

The inclusion of banana and apple also helps make the formula better suited to a child’s appetite during this period. The strain present in NovaBiotic is Saccharomyces boulardii CNCM I-3799.

NovaBiotic is intended for temporary use and is not a regular food intended to permanently replace the child’s diet. We also offer Novalac AR+ Infant Formula for the First Stage of Life (Anti-Regurgitation) 800 g, which provides the essential nutrients for infants’ growthin cases of significant regurgitation.

How should Novalac NovaBiotic be used?

The Novalac instructions recommend giving at least 420 mL of NovaBiotic per day for a few days. Feedings can be spread throughout the day depending on the child’s routine and appetite.

The recommended mixing ratio is: 1 scoop (4.3 g) per 30 mL of water.

Preparing the Bottle

1. Clean the work surface and wash your hands thoroughly before each preparation.
2. Use a bottle and accessories that have been thoroughly washed and drained.
3. Heat mineral or spring water suitable for infants to 40°C.
4. Pour the required amount of water into the bottle.
5. Add the number of level, not heaped, scoops of formula corresponding to the volume of water.
6. Close the bottle with the cap and roll it between your palms to minimize the formation of lumps.
7. Then shake the bottle up and down until the powder is completely dissolved, then replace the cap with the nipple.
8. Let it cool to 37 °C and check the temperature by placing a few drops on the inside of your forearm.
9. Give the bottle to the child immediately.

Due to its unique composition, Novalac NovaBiotic may have a different appearance, smell, and taste than traditional infant formulas.

When the bottle is left to stand, several layers may form. This is considered normal. Simply shake the bottle well before use.

Novalac NovaBiotic is a food product intended for special medical purposes. Its use in infants with diarrhea must be in accordance with the recommendations of a healthcare professional, particularly due to the risk of dehydration associated with diarrhea in young children.

• Best consumed before the expiration date indicated on the bottom of the box.
• Keep the box tightly closed in a clean, dry place, protected from light and contamination.
• Remove the metal seal completely when opening for the first time.
• Do not prepare the bottle in advance.
• Feed the bottle within one hour of preparation.
• Do not add sugar.
• Discard the contents of any unfinished bottle.
• Do not leave the child with the bottle for longer than the duration of the feeding to protect their oral health.
• Close the container tightly after each use.
• Once opened, use the powder within 3 weeks for optimal quality.
• This product is not suitable for parenteral use or tube feeding.

Diarrhea in infants requires special attention. In the event of severe or persistent diarrhea, repeated vomiting, fever, blood in the stool, a change in the child’s general condition, or signs of dehydration, seek medical attention immediately.
