What is an essential fatty acid?
An essential fatty acid is a polyunsaturated fatty acid that the human body is unable to produce in sufficient quantities. Two are strictly essential.

Omega-3 to omega-6 ratio: how to balance it?
The ideal omega-6 to omega-3 ratio is estimated to be between 3:1 and 5:1. The Western diet often reaches 15:1 to 20:1—an imbalance that promotes a pro-oxidative state and excessive chronic inflammation.
- Reduce your intake of omega-6-rich oils (sunflower, corn) in favor of canola, olive, or walnut oil
- Increase omega-3 intake by eating fatty fish 2 to 3 times a week
