CITRUS BERGAMIA Risso ( Citrus aurantium L. ssp. Bergamia Engl. ) Bergamot tree essential oil available in 10 ml bottle. Phytosun arôms Essential Oils are 100% pure and natural, Botanically and Biochemically Defined.

Organic Bergamot (Citrus Bergamia) Essential Oil has calming, sedative , central nervous system, anxiolytic and antidepressant properties. It is neuroprotective (in prevention of the accumulation of glutamate), antidepressant and melatoninergic. It is an anti-bacterial and anti-mycoplasma oil that can be used in food preservation. It is also an analgesic (linalool, linalyl acetate), an antispasmodic, a carminative, a digestive, laxative, an anti-inflammatory, an antifungal, but it is necessary to respect the doses recommended by your doctor or pharmacist.

This essential oil is traditionally used in the following cases:

  • Anxiety, stress, depression
  • Insomnia due to desynchronization
  • Inappetence, difficult digestion, colitis, dyspepsia
  • Acne, eczema, psoriasis, seborrhea

Use and dosage of Bergamot Essential Oil (Citrus Bergamia) :

Calming, sedative action of the central SN, anxiolytic and antidepressant type depression, anxiety, stress; Dilute 5% bergamot essential oil in wheat germ vegetable oil, then apply this mixture along the spine and on the solar plexus 2 times a day for 1 week.

Composition of Essential Oil of Bergamot (Citrus Bergamia) :

Monoterpene esters : linalyl acetate (30 - 40%)
Monoterpenes : limonene (30-40%), alpha-pinene and beta-pinene, gamma-terpinene (6-10%)
Monoterpene alcohols : nerol, geraniol, linalool (7-15%)
Coumarins, furocoumarins : bergapten (0.15-0.35%) in the non-volatile fraction

Some essential oil suppliers have in their catalog essential oils of bergamot without furocoumarins, obtained by steam distillation of the essential oil of bergamot initially obtained by cold pressing of the zest of the fruit. This technique makes it possible to rid the essential oil of the components of the furocoumarins family.

Possible side effects and precautions for use of Bergamot Essential Oil (Citrus Bergamia) :

  • Not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women
  • Dermocaustic, possible skin irritation in pure form
  • Cytotoxicity with improper use, essential oil can be fatal to dividing cells by activating multiple pathways
  • Risk of photosensitization. Do not apply before sun exposure
  • Caution in renal failure, nephrotoxic
  • May cause acute cytolytic hepatitis at high dose
