When should you use ProRhinel Runny Nose to rinse your nose?
ProRhinel Runny Nose, the new name for the ProRhinel Children-Adults spray, is a pressurized saline solution designed for nasal irrigation when you have a cold. Its formula combines sodium chloride with a fluidizing agent, and its tip is designed to fit the nasal anatomy of older children and adults. It is a nasal rinse for colds or nasopharyngitis, whether the nose is stuffy or runny.
During a cold, the inside of the nose reacts to viruses by producing abundant, often thick secretions that accumulate and eventually become bothersome. The stream of solution flushes out the nasal passages and helpsremove mucus and infectious agents. The mucolytic agent helps loosen the stickiest secretions—the ones that cannot be cleared by simply blowing your nose.
Once cleared of what’s clogging it, the nose feels clearer: the rinse reduces nasal congestion, opens up the airways, and makes breathing easier. The relief is especially noticeable at bedtime, when a stuffy nose forces you to breathe through your mouth.
The spray’s pressure ensures a gentle wash that is gentle on the nasal lining, without the need to fill a dropper or syringe. This quick routine is especially useful during the season of back-to-back colds, from fall through late winter, when schoolchildren bring home one virus after another and the whole family ends up with a runny nose.
Repeatedly blowing your nose often irritates the entrance to and the area around the nostrils. For this reason, we recommend Aboca’s Fitonasal ointment for irritated noses: applied after rinsing, to clean mucous membranes, it forms a film that helps soothe irritation and dryness in the nose—where the spray cleans without providing protection.
How do you use this nasal rinse spray?
Instructions for Use
Blow your nose if necessary, tilt your head well to one side, gently insert the tip of the nozzle into the upper nostril, and apply firm pressure for 2 to 3 seconds, then tilt your head to the other side and repeat in the other nostril, always rinsing the upper nostril. Use 1 to 3 times a day in each nostril.

Precautions
- For adults and children over 6 years of age only. For children under 11 years of age, use under adult supervision. For the elderly or people with disabilities, adult assistance may be necessary.
- Do not use if you are allergic to any of the ingredients. The solution contains benzododecinium bromide, a quaternary ammonium compound that may cause a local allergic reaction in people sensitive to this substance.
- Benzododecinium bromide belongs to the benzalkonium chloride family, which may cause irritation or swelling inside the nose, especially with prolonged use: If irritation persists or you experience a sensation of nasal swelling, discontinue use and consult a pharmacist.
- Do not use at the same time as another nasal product containing an antiseptic.
- After nasal surgery or injury, consult a doctor before using the spray.
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding: The spray may be used after consulting a doctor or pharmacist.
- Use the spray at room temperature (17°C to 30°C) to avoid a burning or stinging sensation.
- Do not blow your nose forcefully for 10 minutes after spraying.
- Do not get the solution in your eyes, mouth, or ears.
- Consult a doctor if you have a fever higher than 38.5 °C, severe headaches, difficulty breathing or swallowing, ear pain or discharge, conjunctivitis, sinus pain (especially on one side), a sudden worsening of symptoms, or if a runny or stuffy nose does not improve: after 10 days in children, after 15 to 20 days in adults. In children, also consult a doctor if the fever lasts more than three days or appears after three days of a cold.
- After each use, clean the nozzle under warm running water and dry it with a clean cloth. Do not use chemicals, dish soap, or disinfectant.
- For hygiene reasons and to prevent contamination, the spray should be used by only one person.
- This product is fragile and should be handled with care: the spray may not function properly after being dropped or subjected to impact. Do not use a broken or damaged product. Do not place in the microwave.
- Pressurized container: may burst if heated. Keep away from heat, sparks, open flames, and hot surfaces; do not smoke. Protect from sunlight and do not expose to temperatures above 50 °C. Do not pierce or burn, even after use.
- Store between 0 °C and 30 °C in the original container; do not freeze. Do not use after the expiration date. Keep out of the sight and reach of children.

Our expert advice on ProRhinel Runny Nose for colds
Nasal irrigation does not shorten the duration of a cold: it gradually clears away what the nose produces, ensuring that breathing remains unobstructed while the infection runs its course. This is why the section on precautions—which describes the signs indicating the need to seek medical advice—is the one to keep in mind. A clear runny nose on the third day is common; it’s the progression of the condition—rather than the discharge itself—that should prompt action.
At the pharmacy counter, the most common difficulty is with technique. Lean over the sink, with your head turned well to one side, and breathe through your mouth while spraying: the solution should come out of the other nostril. If it runs down your throat, your head isn’t tilted far enough. With a child, demonstrate the procedure on yourself in front of them before doing it for them: they’ll accept the second rinse much more readily than the first.
FAQ
Can I use ProRhinel Runny Nose for my 4-year-old?
No. Its nozzle is sized for the noses of older children and adults. For infants or young children, the line offers ProRhinel Nasal Spray for Infants and Young Children 100 ml, which has a nozzle adapted for smaller nostrils.
Can I use ProRhinel Runny Nose with another nasal spray?
Yes, as long as you start by rinsing. It should be used before any other topical nasal product, whether it’s a spray for a cold or allergic rhinitis: the second product will then be applied to a clear nasal passage, rather than getting trapped in mucus.
Can I use ProRhinel Runny Nose when I don’t have a cold?
Yes. In addition to nasal irrigation during a cold, this spray can be used to moisturize the nasal passages, for example when heated air in the winter dries out the nose.
