Maalox Anti Acid Stomachache Mint tablets

For warnings, precautions for use and contraindications, please consult the Maalox anti-acid Mint tablets leaflet.

The unpleasant sensations of heartburn, acid reflux and regurgitation are evidence of one thing: highly acidic stomach contents are rising up into the esophagus. But what exactly causes these digestive problems?
Normally, there's a natural barrier between the stomach and the esophagus called the lower esophageal sphincter (LES). It opens only to allow food to pass through. In some people, this sphincter is a little too loose and occasionally allows some stomach contents to pass through, which then travels up the esophagus into the throat or even the mouth.

Our advice and expert opinions in pharmacy

Heartburn is characterized by a painful sensation of acidity, most often after a meal. When heartburn is accompanied by reflux (or acid reflux), we speak of GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease). GERD corresponds to the passage of part of the gastric contents into the esophagus. It becomes pathological when too frequent and/or prolonged. The most common symptoms are heartburn and acid reflux.

To prevent gastro-oesophageal reflux, there are a few rules to know: certain foods, for example, can reduce pressure on the lower oesophageal sphincter or irritate the lining of the oesophagus; stress and alcohol can also promote acid reflux.

Contre-indications
