When should L107 Lehning Acute Gastroenteritis be used for temporary diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting?

L107 Acute Gastroenteritis Lehning is a homeopathic medicine traditionally used as an adjunctive treatment for acute gastroenteritis, in addition to appropriate dietary measures. Its formula combines eight homeopathic strains selected to support the body during episodes of temporary diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and associated digestive discomfort.

During gastroenteritis, the digestive system reacts as a defense mechanism, attempting to quickly eliminate the elements causing the irritation. This reaction can lead to frequent loose stools, abdominal cramps, or nausea. The various components of L107 work synergistically to soothe digestive discomfort and support a gradual return to better intestinal comfort.

Arsenicum album and Ipeca are traditionally used for digestive episodes accompanied by nausea, vomiting, or stomach discomfort. Their inclusion helps support individuals experiencing digestive discomfort, particularly when the stomach appears to be disturbed by an infection or a temporary imbalance.

China rubra, Colocynthis, and Chamomilla vulgaris are traditionally used for digestive disorders associated with spasms, abdominal pain, or frequent bowel movements. Their complementary action helps promote intestinal comfort and support the body during this period of digestive fragility.

Belladonna, Mercurius corrosivus, and Nux vomica round out this formula. These strains are traditionally used for acute digestive conditions characterized by intestinal irritation, digestive hypersensitivity, or an excessive reaction of the digestive tract. Together, they help support digestive balance and aid normal bowel function during recovery.

To optimize your overall intestinal comfort, L107 Acute Gastroenteritis Lehning can be combined with Oléocaps 2 Pranarôm Organic Intestinal Health 30 capsules. This synergy combines the homeopathic approach with essential oils selected to support digestive well-being and help restore a more balanced bowel function.

How should this homeopathic remedy be used?

Our expert advice on L107 Acute Gastroenteritis Lehning

During an episode of gastroenteritis, the priority remains preventing dehydration. Be sure to drink small amounts of water or oral rehydration solutions regularly, even if you feel nauseous. Opt for light, frequent meals: rice, cooked carrots, bananas, or fruit compotes may be better tolerated for a few days. In young children, the elderly, or frail patients, close monitoring for signs of dehydration is recommended.

Warning

Although this medication is available over the counter, it should only be used in children under medical supervision.

Diarrhea accompanied by lethargy, thirst, fever, or blood in the stool requires immediate medical attention.

The oral solution contains alcohol (equivalent to 2.2 mL of beer or 0.9 mL of wine per adult dose): take this into account in children, pregnant or breastfeeding women, patients with liver failure, and those with epilepsy.

Fertility, Pregnancy, and Breastfeeding

At homeopathic dilutions, the substances in this medication are not known to be toxic during pregnancy or breastfeeding. However, do not use it without consulting your doctor or pharmacist.

Directions for Use and Dosage

The tablets should be allowed to dissolve under the tongue, preferably between meals. For children under 6 years of age, it is recommended to dissolve the tablet in a small amount of water.

The drops should be diluted in a small amount of water.

Usual dosage:

  • Adults: 1 tablet or 10 drops after each loose or watery stool, not to exceed 6 tablets or 60 drops per day. If there is no improvement after 2 days, seek medical advice.
  • Children over 30 months: 1 tablet or 3 drops after each loose or watery stool, with at least a 4-hour interval between doses. Do not exceed 3 tablets per day.

Space out doses as symptoms improve and stop taking the medication once symptoms disappear. Treatment should not exceed 5 days.

Tips

Diarrhea can cause dehydration, particularly in children or the elderly. This loss of water from the body must be compensated for by drinking plenty of fluids (salted broth, sugary drinks) as it can lead to fatigue, malaise, or confusion.

GLOSSARY

alcohol

A general term referring to a family of substances that can be mixed with water and fats. The most common alcohol is ethyl alcohol (ethanol), but there are many other types of alcohol: methanol, butanol, etc. The proof of an alcoholic solution corresponds to the volume of pure alcohol present in 100 ml of solution, bearing in mind that 1 wine glass or 1 half-pint of beer (25 cl) contains approximately 8 g of alcohol.

When alcohol is used as an antiseptic, a denaturant with an unpleasant odor is often added to prevent it from being drunk. Contrary to popular belief, 70% alcohol (or even 60% alcohol) is a better antiseptic than 90% alcohol.

See the article: Alcohol Dependence

complex

A term used to describe a combination of several homeopathic remedies. Generally, the dilutions used are low: from 3 DH (Hahnemannian decimal) to 6 CH (Hahnemannian centesimal).

DH

Abbreviation for Hahnemannian decimal. It corresponds to a 1:10 dilution of a homeopathic substance (i.e., 1 part substance to 9 parts water). 6 DH means that the substance (mother tincture) has undergone 6 successive 1:10 dilutions.

diarrhea

The strict medical definition of diarrhea is “excessively frequent and copious bowel movements.” In fact, common understanding equates diarrhea with the notion of loose and frequent stools. Normally, stools are paste-like, but the passage of loose or barely formed stools, without pain or any particular associated discomfort, is not pathological. We can speak of diarrhea when the passage of liquid stools occurs repeatedly throughout the day, and the urge to defecate is urgent or painful.

Many medications can speed up intestinal transit and make stools more liquid, without this side effect being a real cause for concern.

Antibiotics can alter the gut flora, which is essential for digestion, and cause diarrhea that is more or less bothersome but benign. The effect appears immediately or after a few days of treatment. A severe and rare form of diarrhea, pseudomembranous colitis, can occur after antibiotic treatment; this condition is characterized by the passage of mucus and pseudomembranes (resembling flakes of skin) accompanied by abdominal pain; constipation may replace the initial diarrhea. Pseudomembranous colitis can occur several days after stopping antibiotic treatment and requires urgent medical attention.

See the article: Diarrhea and Gastroenteritis in Adults or Diarrhea and Gastroenteritis in Children

Gout

A condition characterized by redness and severe pain in a joint (most commonly the big toe), caused by a buildup of uric acid crystals.

See the article: Gout

homeopathy

A form of treatment based on two principles: the use of substances that produce effects similar to the symptoms of the disease they are intended to treat, and the infinitesimal dilution of these substances.

See the articles: Homeopathic Medicines

lactose

Lactose is a sugar found in milk and some of its derivatives. To digest it, the intestine must be able to secrete an enzyme called lactase. Many people lose the ability to produce this lactase in adulthood. Lactose then passes through the intestines undigested, and its presence causes intestinal discomfort: diarrhea, bloating, gas, etc. Some medications contain lactose used as an excipient (a component with no therapeutic activity). People who cannot digest lactose may experience intestinal side effects when taking this type of medication.

symptom

A condition experienced by a person with an illness. The same symptom can indicate different illnesses, and the same illness does not necessarily produce the same symptoms in all patients.

homeopathic treatment

A treatment based on the administration of highly diluted substances of plant, animal, or mineral origin. The main principles of homeopathy are the law of similars (the use of substances that produce effects similar to the symptoms of the illness), infinitesimal dilution (the substances used undergo multiple dilutions), and the holistic approach (the treatment targets not a specific organ, but the individual as a whole).
