Homemade toothpaste recipes are plentiful on the internet. According to the recipes, we find baking soda, charcoal, clay, siwak powder… These ingredients, if they are natural, are not so harmless as that. It is for this reason that we recommend daily use of toothpaste manufactured by brands recognized for the quality of their toothpaste formula, such as Weleda, Boiron or Lehning.
Are toothpaste and homeopathy compatible?
Homeopathy is an unconventional medicine based on doses of infinitesimal active ingredients. Some homeopaths recommend not using certain toothpastes that are not compatible with these treatments. Homeopathy granules must melt under the tongue and to be effective the mucous membrane of the mouth must not be impregnated with any flavor (tobacco, coffee, chewing gum, toothpaste, etc.).
The menthol present in a large number of toothpastes is the main cause of the non-compatibility of toothpastes that are flavored with it and homeopathy. Menthol-flavored toothpastes are therefore not really recommended. Especially in case you are used to taking the dose of homeopathy after brushing your teeth. The risk is to render the treatment completely inactive and ineffective.
