In many cases, hemorrhoids are linked to constipation . To restore transit, dietary measures must be adopted first. If that's not enough, treatment for constipation with a laxative can help.
Laxatives are medicines (natural or not) that soften the stools and increase their volume, thus accelerating intestinal transit and combating constipation. In case of hemorrhoids , it is advisable to favor osmotic laxatives ( macrogol type).
How to reduce the occurrence of hemorrhoids?
There are several risk factors that can promote the appearance of internal or external hemorrhoids:
- Spend hours and hours sitting or standing .
- Lift very heavy loads continuously and repeatedly.
- Eat strongly spicy foods.
- Dehydration, that is, drinking insufficient amounts of water.
- Eat diets that do not contain a lot of fiber .
- Obesity and pregnancy , because both cause great pressure on the veins of hemorrhoids.
- Repeated constipation and diarrhea that cause irritation of the mucous membrane and anal veins.
- The elderly are much more susceptible to hemorrhoid attacks than the young because hemorrhoidal tissue weakens with age.
