What does it contain?

Its main ingredient is sodium chloride, at 1.400 g per 100 ml of ophthalmic solution. It is this substance that gives the eye drops their beneficial action. The formula also includes other components, such as disodium edetate, benzalkonium chloride, sodium hydroxide and purified water.

What are the side effects and contraindications?

This product is not recommended for those who are allergic or hypersensitive to the active substance or any of its components. If you are using another eye drop at the same time, it is preferable to leave a 15-minute interval between applications.

Benzalkonium chloride, an ingredient in this formula, can cause eye irritation and even discolour soft contact lenses. It is therefore advisable to remove contact lenses before applying eye drops, and to reinsert them at least 15 minutes later.

Hygiene and use of the bottle

It is essential to avoid any contact between the tip of the bottle and the eye or eyelids, to avoid contamination. Close the bottle tightly after use.

Drug interactions and use during pregnancy and breast-feeding

Always inform your doctor or pharmacist of any other treatments you are taking to avoid drug interactions. In addition, although Martinet Artificial Tears Eye Drops 1.4% can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding, it is always preferable to consult a healthcare professional before doing so.

Temporary side effects

Please note that instilling eye drops may temporarily blur your vision. It is therefore advisable to wait until your vision is clear again before driving a car or operating machinery.

Additional advice on eye hydration

In addition to using eye drops, keeping your body hydrated can also help keep your eyes hydrated. It's recommended that you drink at least 1.5 liters of water a day and include fatty acids in your diet, either through food or by taking supplements such as Alphalarm hydrating capsules.

By following these guidelines, you can effectively manage dry eye symptoms and improve your visual comfort by using Martinet 1.4% Artificial Tear Eye Drops.

When should I seek medical advice for dry eyes?

Consult an ophthalmologist in the following situations:

  • If your visual acuity deteriorates rapidly.
  • If you suffer from an eye infection (conjunctivitis, keratitis) or eyelid infection (blepharitis).
  • If discomfort persists despite treatment.
  • If you wear contact lenses and eye discomfort does not subside quickly. An examination is necessary to check for corneal damage caused by your lenses.

Although generally benign, dry eyes should not be taken lightly. Preventive action and appropriate follow-up will help you maintain optimal ocular health.
