When should you use Parodontax Intense Freshness for your gums?

Parodontax Intense Freshness is a fluoride toothpaste, classified as a medical device, designed for daily gum care. The paste contains 67% sodium bicarbonate, combined with sodium fluoride at a concentration of 1,400 ppm of fluoride. It’s a gum care product meant to be incorporated into your long-term routine.

It all starts with dental plaque—that film of bacteria that builds up along the gumline when brushing doesn’t remove it. Plaque can cause occasional bleeding, redness, and inflammation: these are the first signs of a gum problem. Parodontax Intense Freshness combats the first three signs of gum problems by helping to remove this plaque with every brushing: at the same brushing frequency, it removes four times more plaque than a toothpaste without sodium bicarbonate.

Your teeth also benefit from brushing. Thanks to the fluoride it contains, this toothpaste helps strengthen teeth: it therefore replaces your usual fluoride toothpaste, eliminating the need to alternate between two different toothpastes to care for both your gums and enamel.

Its Intense Freshness version features a bold minty flavor, enhanced with peppermint and eucalyptus, which leaves an intense feeling of freshness after brushing. It’s ideal for those who like to finish brushing with a clean feeling in their mouth and find milder flavors lacking.

Baking soda works through the brushing motion: it’s the brushing that loosens plaque, and the bristles must get as close to the gumline as possible. For this, we recommend the Parodontax Extra Soft Complete Protection Toothbrush: its extra-soft bristles allow you to brush along the gumline without irritating the gums, and Parodontax Intense Freshness can then do its job on the entire affected area.

How do you use this baking soda toothpaste?

Precautions

  • Fluoride toothpaste. Avoid swallowing the toothpaste.
  • Not suitable for children under 12 years of age without the advice of a dentist or doctor.
  • For children aged 12 to 18, if they are receiving other sources of fluoride (tablets, drops, fluoridated salt), consult a dentist.
  • Do not use if you are allergic to any of the ingredients, particularly menthol, peppermint essential oil, anethole, eucalyptus essential oil, or limonene.
  • If you have a history of epilepsy or seizures, consult a doctor before use: the formula contains menthol and eucalyptus essential oil.
  • Recurrent canker sores: Sodium lauryl sulfate, the foaming agent in this toothpaste, may contribute to their development in some people. Consult your dentist or pharmacist.
  • If irritation occurs, discontinue use and consult a dentist.
  • Bleeding, redness, and inflammation are not limited to early-stage gum problems. Consult a dentist if these symptoms persist in adults, if a child experiences bleeding gums, or if the gums are receding and the teeth appear to be loosening.
  • Heavy or spontaneous gum bleeding (not related to brushing), unexplained bruising, repeated nosebleeds, or bleeding while taking anticoagulants or antiplatelet agents: consult a doctor.
  • Report any incident or side effect related to the product to the manufacturer, the ANSM, and a pharmacist or dentist.
  • The ends of the carton are sealed: do not use the product if they are open.
  • Keep out of the reach of children.

Our expert advice on this Parodontax for healthy gums

Toothpaste works on plaque that forms daily, not on tartar that has already set in—tartar can only be removed at the dentist’s office. What we often see at the counter is the opposite: people switch toothpastes for months before making an appointment. When gums have been bleeding for a long time, a dental checkup and scaling come first, and this toothpaste then helps maintain the results.

As for brushing technique, the results are judged over time, not after the first few brushings. A toothbrush can’t reach the spaces between the teeth, where plaque tends to accumulate: using an interdental brush or dental floss once a day complements what the toothpaste can’t do on its own.

FAQ

Is it normal for Parodontax Intense Freshness to taste salty?

Yes. This taste comes from sodium bicarbonate, the toothpaste’s main ingredient. It often comes as a surprise during the first few brushings, but the sensation fades over the course of several weeks of use, especially since the minty flavor masks much of it.

My gums still bleed a little when I use Parodontax Intense Freshness: should I avoid brushing that area?

No. Avoiding the area that bleeds allows plaque to build up there and perpetuates the problem. Brush gently with a soft-bristled toothbrush whose bristles are angled toward the gums, but make sure to reach every tooth all the way to the gum line.

Can I use Parodontax Intense Freshness while I’m pregnant?

There are no known pregnancy-related contraindications for this toothpaste. During pregnancy, hormonal changes make the gums more sensitive to plaque, and bleeding while brushing is common. Health insurance covers 100% of the cost of a dental exam from the 4th month of pregnancy through the 6th month after childbirth: a good opportunity to have your gums checked.

Parodontax Intense Freshness is a medical device, a regulated health product that bears the CE mark 1639 in accordance with these regulations. Manufacturer: Haleon Medical Devices, Dungarvan (Ireland). Read the packaging carefully before use.
