Description of HEXASPRAY SORE-THROAT STICK

Hexaspray is a mouthwash to be sprayed locally at the back of the throat to treat mild sore throats without fever.

It can be used by adults and children aged 30 months and over.

Sore throat is a very common pain felt at the back of the throat. More precisely, this pain can be felt in the larynx (lower part of the throat), pharynx (nasopharynx towards the nose and oropharynx towards the oral cavity), tonsils (behind the tongue) or, more rarely, in the epiglottis, a small cartilaginous protuberance near the trachea.

Directions for use and advice on HEXASPRAY COLLUTORY HEALTH SICKNESS

Dosage
FOR ADULTS AND CHILDREN OVER 30 MONTHS.
2 sprays 3 times a day.

Method and route of administration
Oral administration
Shake before each use.

HEXASPRAY SORE-THROAT COLLUTORY contains

Biclotymol 750 mg

Precautions for use with HEXASPRAY COLLUTOIRE MAL DE GORGE

This medicine must not be used in the following cases:

  • If you have a history of allergy to any of the components of the mouthwash.
  • Pressurized mouthwashes are contraindicated in infants (risk of laryngospasm).

Special warnings
KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN.
Prolonged use (more than 5 days) is not recommended, as it may alter the natural microbial balance of the throat.
The simultaneous or successive use of antiseptics should be avoided, as they may interfere with each other (antagonism, inactivation).

Special precautions for use
In the event of fever, purulent sputum or difficulty swallowing food, or if the condition worsens or fails to improve after 5 days: CONSULT YOUR PHYSICIAN.

This medicine contains biclotymol. Other medicines contain biclotymol. Do not combine them, so as not to exceed the maximum recommended doses (see directions for use and dosage).

Pregnancy

As a precautionary measure, biclotymol should not be used during pregnancy.

1. WHAT IS HEXASPRAY, Mouth Spray in Pressurized Bottle AND WHAT IS IT USED FOR?

Pharmacotherapeutic class

Local antibacterial drug - ATC code: R02AA19.

Antibacterial activity against Gram+ bacteria under the following conditions: 15-minute contact time at maximum concentration (90%).

Therapeutic indications

This medication is indicated for the local treatment of mild sore throats without fever.

You should consult your doctor if you do not feel any improvement or if you feel worse after 5 days.

2. WHAT DO I HAVE TO KNOW BEFORE USING HEXASPRAY, Mouth Spray in pressurized bottle?

Never use HEXASPRAY, mouthwash in pressurized bottle:

- If you have a history of allergy to any of the components of the mouthwash.

- Pressurized mouthwashes are contraindicated in infants (risk of laryngospasm).

IF IN DOUBT, ASK YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST.

Warnings and precautions

This medicine contains methyl parahydroxybenzoate and may cause allergic reactions with urticaria and respiratory discomfort.

This medicine contains 35 mg benzyl alcohol per dose (2 sprays). Benzyl alcohol may cause allergic reactions and mild local irritation.

This medicine contains less than 1 mmol (23 mg) sodium per spray, i.e. it is essentially "sodium-free".

Precautions for use

In the event of fever, purulent sputum or difficulty swallowing food, or if the condition worsens or does not improve within 5 days: CONSULT YOUR PHYSICIAN.

The recommended dose is 2 sprays, 3 times a day.

Method of administration

Treatment should not exceed 5 days.

4. WHAT ARE THE POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS?

Like all medicines, this drug may cause undesirable effects, but they do not occur systematically in everyone.

Undesirable effects are listed below, in order of frequency:

Very rare (affecting up to 1 in 10,000 people): swelling of the lips, urticaria, rash, erythema, angioedema.

The presence of methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E218) may cause allergic reactions.

Do not dispose of any medicine in the garbage. Ask your pharmacist to identify any medicines you no longer use. These measures will help protect the environment.

Contre-indications

Ce médicament ne doit pas être utilisé dans les cas suivants :
  • enfant de moins de 30 mois (HEXASPRAY),
  • enfant de moins de 6 ans (HEXASPRAY fruits exotiques).

Attention

En cas de fièvre, de gène en avalant ou de persistance des symptômes au bout de 5 jours, consultez votre médecin. Il pourra faire la différence entre une pharyngite et une angine. En cas d'angine bactérienne, un traitement antibiotique est nécessaire afin d'éviter des complications ultérieures, cardiaques ou rénales.

L'usage prolongé des traitements antiseptiques locaux (gargarisme, collutoire, pastille) n'est pas souhaitable ; il peut modifier l'équilibre microbien naturel de la gorge.

Interactions médicamenteuses

Il est généralement inutile d'associer des antiseptiques différents. Ceux-ci peuvent être contenus dans de nombreux produits disponibles en automédication : pastille, collutoire et solution nasale ; demandez conseil à votre pharmacien.

Fertilité, grossesse et allaitement

L'effet de ce médicament pendant la grossesse ou l'allaitement est mal connu. L'évaluation du risque éventuel lié à son utilisation est individuelle : demandez conseil à votre pharmacien ou à votre médecin.

Mode d'emploi et posologie

Agiter le flacon avant utilisation.

Posologie usuelle :

HEXASPRAY

  • Adulte et enfant de plus de 30 mois : 2 pulvérisations, 3 fois par jour.

HEXASPRAY fruits exotiques

  • Adulte et enfant de plus de 6 ans : 2 pulvérisations, 3 fois par jour.

La durée du traitement ne doit pas dépasser 5 jours.

Conseils

Chez le jeune enfant, la pulvérisation peut provoquer un spasme du larynx : n'introduisez pas trop profondément l'embout dans sa bouche.

HEXASPRAY fruits exotiques peut être en accès libre dans certaines pharmacies ; néanmoins, n'hésitez pas à demander conseil à votre pharmacien.

Effets indésirables possibles

Très rarement : réaction allergique (urticaire, œdème de Quincke).

LEXIQUE

alcool

Nom général désignant une famille de substances qui ont la propriété de pouvoir être mélangées à l'eau et aux corps gras. L'alcool le plus courant est l'alcool éthylique (éthanol), mais il existe de nombreux autres alcools : méthanol, butanol, etc. Le degré d'une solution alcoolique correspond au volume d'alcool pur présent dans 100 ml de solution, en sachant que 1 verre ballon de vin ou 1 demi de bière (25 cl) contiennent environ 8 g d'alcool.

Lorsque l'alcool est utilisé comme antiseptique, un dénaturant d'odeur désagréable lui est souvent ajouté pour éviter qu'il soit bu. Contrairement à une croyance répandue, l'alcool à 70° (ou même à 60°) est un meilleur antiseptique que l'alcool à 90°.

Réaction allergique touchant généralement le visage. L'œdème de Quincke se traduit par un gonflement parfois spectaculaire. Les paupières sont souvent les premières touchées. Dans les rares cas où l'œdème touche la gorge, des troubles respiratoires peuvent survenir et un traitement urgent est nécessaire.
