When should you take Granions Melatonin to help you fall asleep?

Granions Melatonin 1.9 mg is a dietary supplement in tablet form, with each tablet containing 1.9 mg of melatonin. Melatonin is a hormone naturally produced by the body in the evening, as light levels decrease. This dosage is among the highest in our melatonin dietary supplements.

When taken shortly before bedtime, melatonin helps reduce the time it takes to fall asleep. With 1.9 mg per tablet, the daily dose exceeds the 1-mg threshold at which this effect is achieved.

Melatonin also helps alleviate the effects of jet lag, provided it is taken in doses of 0.5 mg or more just before bedtime on the first day of travel and on the days following arrival. A long trip east or west is therefore another situation in which this tablet is useful.

The 30-tablet pack is suitable for occasional use—such as during travel or a period when bedtime shifts—or for a one-month course of treatment.

How should these melatonin tablets be taken?

Directions for Use

Take 1 tablet daily, with a full glass of water, 30 minutes before bedtime. The beneficial effect is achieved by taking 1 mg of melatonin before bedtime and, in the case of jet lag, by taking at least 0.5 mg just before bedtime on the first day of travel and for a few days following arrival at your destination.

Our expert advice on Granions Melatonin 1.9 mg

Melatonin is a sleep signal, not a sleeping pill: it works best when you go to bed at a regular time and turn off your screens a little while before. Among the precautions, the one regarding current medications is most often overlooked, as melatonin seems harmless; it’s important to check this before taking your first dose.

Difficulty falling asleep that persists for several weeks cannot be resolved by extending the treatment course: it warrants a medical consultation to determine the underlying cause.

FAQ

Can Granions Melatonin 1.9 mg cause nightmares?

Adverse effects have been reported to ANSES in connection with melatonin dietary supplements, including headaches, dizziness, drowsiness, nightmares, irritability, and nausea. If you experience any unusual side effects, stop taking the product and consult a healthcare professional.

Why choose Granions Melatonin 1.9 mg over a 1 mg melatonin supplement?

The effect on the time it takes to fall asleep is achieved with 1 mg of melatonin taken before bedtime: both dosages meet this requirement. The 1.9 mg tablet remains below the 2 mg per day limit set in France for dietary supplements.

Do you need a prescription to buy Granions Melatonin 1.9 mg?

No. Granions Melatonin 1.9 mg is a dietary supplement available without a prescription. Extended-release melatonin medications, however, require a doctor’s prescription.
