What is Octo Protect - Elanco flea and tick collar for cats?
Protecting your cat from parasites is not just a question of comfort, but also of overall health. The anti-parasite collar acts as a real protective barrier against pests. It offers long-lasting protection against fleas, covering a period of 7 to 8 months. This prolonged action prevents repeated infestations and reduces the risk of itching, excessive scratching and daily discomfort.
In addition to its role on the coat, this collar has a preventive action in the cat's immediate environment. For 10 weeks, it prevents the development of flea larvae around the animal, considerably reducing the risk of reinfestation in the home. An ideal solution for households with several pets, where parasite control can become a real headache.
This anti-parasite collar can also be used to treat Flea Allergy Dermatitis (FAD). In sensitive cats, flea bites can cause severe allergic reactions. The collar helps reduce these reactions by limiting contact and the proliferation of parasites, thus contributing to the feline's comfort and skin well-being.
Thanks to its specific formula, the collar also acts against ticks. It has a lethal acaricide action on the most common species, such as Ixodes ricinus and Rhipicephalus turanicus. Its special feature is its repellent effect, which prevents ticks from gorging themselves on blood. This dual action - killing and repelling - is a real asset in protecting your companion from tick-borne diseases, which can be serious and difficult to treat.
Its effectiveness is not limited to fleas and ticks: this anti-parasite collar is also active against larvae, nymphs and adult ticks, covering all development phases. What's more, it helps to limit the risk of infections linked to certain sandflies, notably as part of the prevention of Leishmaniasis, a serious disease that can affect animal health.
Finally, its design makes it as practical as it is safe. Water-resistant, the collar retains all its properties even if your cat goes out in the rain or wanders in a damp environment. Its secure locking mechanism ensures that, in the unlikely event of your cat getting stuck, it can be released quickly. It's a reliable, effective and long-lasting solution for protecting your companion on a daily basis.

How to use Vétosan Cat Pest Collar to prevent infestation?
Instructions for use
Each cat should wear a 38 cm collar, properly fitted around the neck. Just before use, remove the collar from its protective bag, unroll it and make sure there are no plastic tabs left inside. Place it around the neck without overtightening (leave a gap of two fingers). Pass the end through the loop and trim off any excess over 2 cm. The collar should remain in place continuously throughout the 8-month period, then be removed and replaced if necessary. Check the fit regularly, especially on growing kittens.

Expert advice
In naturopathic veterinary medicine, the emphasis is always on prevention. The use of an anti-parasite collar remains a key strategy, but it can be complemented by natural care. Regular brushing of the coat helps to detect the presence of parasites at an early stage and improve blood circulation. Outdoor outings should be accompanied by simple hygiene measures: ear inspection, paw cleaning and monitoring of sensitive areas such as the neck and groin.
To support your cat's body, certain gentle approaches are recommended, such as adding essential fatty acids (from fish or linseed oil) to strengthen the skin barrier. You can also use plants recognized in phytotherapy, such as brewer's yeast, which promotes skin and coat health. Finally, make sure your dog's environment is clean: regular vacuuming of carpets, washing of plaids and cushions, and a healthy living environment all help to reduce parasite pressure and complement the action of the collar.
