What is Fluvermal Pinworm and Roundworm Dewormer (6 tablets) used for in the treatment of intestinal worms?

For warnings, precautions, and contraindications, please refer to the Fluvermal package insert.

Fluvermaltablets are an anthelmintic medication indicated for the treatment of infestations caused by certain parasitic worms of the digestive tract: pinworms, roundworms, whipworms, andhookworms.

Infection with pinworms (Enterobius vermicularis) occurs through ingestion of eggs shed into the external environment. The eggs hatch under the action of digestive juices and release pinworm larvae, which develop in the small intestine, where they undergo five molts over a period of 2 to 4 weeks before reaching adulthood in the cecum-appendiceal region. Only the pregnant female passes through the anal sphincter. The pinworm attaches itself to the anal mucosa with its mouth and lays an average of 10,000 eggs before dying, posing a significant risk of infection.

Fluvermal Pinworm Tablets is an over-the-counter medication containing flubendazole used to treat infestations caused by certain parasitic worms of the digestive tractin adults and children: pinworms, roundworms, whipworms, and hookworms.

Being the best host is often a pleasure… but that’s not always the case! If I told you: hosting intestinal worms or other parasites of the same kind—it’s not exactly a dream scenario. And yet, these unpleasant organisms sometimes insidiously take up residence in our bodies, settling in comfortably and living like royalty. Intestinal worms depend on other organisms, such as our own, to survive. They draw the energy and nutrients necessary for their survival and reproduction from us.

We also offer Combantrin deworming tablets, a powerful antiparasitic medication to combat various types of worms.

Why take medication to treat intestinal worms?

Substances called dewormers or anthelmintics are used to destroy and expel intestinal worms or parasites.

To treat pinworms, an anti-worm treatment must be administered. It is available over the counter and comes in tablet form or as an oral suspension, which is better suited for young children. These medications only work on adult worms. The treatment must therefore be repeated after 2 or 3 weeks to prevent reinfection from eggs that have hatched in the meantime. It is recommended that the entire family be treated at least once a year.

How should Fluvermal antihelminthic tablets be taken?

The dosage of Fluvermal is the same for children and adults. It depends on the type of worm:

  • Pinworms: 1 tablet as a single dose. The treatment should be repeated 15 to 20 days later to completely eliminate any infestation. Strict personal hygiene measures (cleaning under the nails, etc.) and clothing hygiene must accompany the treatment to eliminate the risk of reinfestation.
  • Ascaris, trichocephalosis, hookworm infection: 1 tablet in the morning and evening for 3 days.

FLUVERMAL is available in tablet form; Fluvermal syrup is also available as an oral suspension.
In all cases, follow the doctor’s prescription.

Method and Route of Administration for Fluvermal:
Oral administration.
The tablets can be taken with a little water or chewed during meals.
Neither a laxative nor fasting beforehand is necessary. No special diet is required during treatment.
