Natures Plus St John's Wort Prolonged Release 60 Tablets is a dietary supplement formulated with St John's Wort, to help improve sleep quality.

How to use Natures Plus St John's Wort 233 mg 60 tablets?

Take 1 tablet a day, preferably with a meal and a large glass of water.

For 1 tablet per day :

  • 233mg St John's Wort flower standardized to 0.3% [700μg] hypericin.

The antidepressant effects of St. John's Wort are felt after two to four weeks of treatment. If you are experiencing depressive symptoms, you should consult your doctor before taking St. John's Wort. If no effect has appeared after six weeks, it's best to stop treatment and consult your doctor again. As with all antidepressants, it is advisable to stop taking St. John's Wort and gradually reduce the daily dose.

What are these tablets made of?

Gelling agent : Hydroxypropylmethylcellulose; Bulking agent: Microcrystalline cellulose; St. John's wort flower extract (Hypericum perforatum); Anti-caking agents: Magnesium stearate, Stearic acid, Dicalcium phosphate, Silica; Coating agent: Shellac. Gluten-free. No artificial colorants or preservatives.

What are the side effects and contraindications?

  • Not recommended for pregnant or breast-feeding women, or for children and adolescents under 18.
  • Not recommended for people suffering from bipolar disorder, due to the risk of manic attacks.
  • Not recommended for people with moderate cirrhosis of the liver, due to increased plasma levels of certain substances.
  • Photosensitization: St. John's Wort can make the skin more sensitive to sunlight, leading to photosensitization reactions such as redness, itching and rashes. It is therefore strongly recommended to avoid prolonged exposure to the sun during use.
  • Use under medical supervision: Although St. John's Wort is available without prescription, it is preferable to use it under medical supervision, as its efficacy is dose-dependent and requires around 10 to 14 days to take effect. It is not, however, addictive.
  • Mild side effects such as digestive disorders, dry mouth and headaches may occur when using St. John's Wort. More serious cases, such as manic attacks, intense nausea and psychotic episodes, have also been reported, especially in people with a history of mental disorders.
  • Possibility of inducing hypertension, especially when combined with certain foods.
  • Drug interactions: St. John's Wort has significant interactions with many drugs and plants, limiting its use due to its effects on hepatic metabolism.
