Our advice and expert opinions

Maceration and perspiration are the main factors in the development of the infectious agents involved: dermatophytes and Candida-type yeasts. These symptoms only manifest themselves in the folds of the skin, hence the name intertrigo. Feet are often the most affected, but it can also affect folded areas: armpits, groin, under the breasts, between the buttocks...

To avoid fungal infections or their recurrence, you must:

  • Avoid wet feet: dry them after a shower with a dry towel, passing well between the toes;
  • Wear suitable shoes and socks to prevent perspiration;
  • Avoid wearing the same shoes 2 days in a row, so that perspiration has time to evacuate;
  • Disinfect footwear (available in pharmacies);
  • Avoid diaper rash in infants.

In the event of candidiasis, avoid using acid soaps: they encourage the multiplication of fungi.
In the event of severe damage to toenails, prior grinding by a pedicurist will facilitate the action of the medication.
Excessive perspiration contributes to the development of fungal lesions. We recommend wearing socks made of natural fibers (cotton, wool). The same pair of shoes should not be worn for two consecutive days.
