Urinary tract infection is an inflammation of the urinary tract, most often caused by bacteria of intestinal origin. Women are particularly affected. The proximity of the urinary tract to the vagina and anus, as well as a shorter urethra, favor the penetration of germs.

However, men can also be affected, especially those with prostatic inflammation (prostatitis). Urine evacuation is slowed if the urethra is compressed by the enlarged prostate. Incomplete or infrequent emptying of the bladder is a favorable environment for bacterial growth.

If symptoms persist, consult your doctor.
Ask your pharmacist for advice. Read the leaflet carefully.

In the event of fever over 38°C, aches and pains, extreme fatigue, severe pain in the lower abdomen or back around the kidneys, call your doctor.

Our advice and expert opinions

Urinary discomfort is more a woman's problem. In fact, women are much more affected than men, because the female urethra is shorter than the male urethra, making it easier for bacteria to contaminate the bladder.
It is estimated that 1 in 2 women will experience at least one episode of urinary discomfort in their lifetime, and some of them will have to deal with it recurrently.

Our advice for good female urinary comfort

  • Adopt good intimate hygiene! Urinary discomfort is caused by the presence of germs. To limit their rise, remember to wipe from front to back when you have a bowel movement. Especially in hot weather, when germs multiply more rapidly.
  • Opt for natural materials! It's best to avoid wearing synthetic undergarments, as these can encourage the growth of bacteria. Instead, opt for natural materials such as cotton, which lets the skin breathe.
  • Avoid tight-fitting clothing, which can cause discomfort.
  • Eat a balanced diet rich in fiber. Transit problems can be a source of urinary discomfort, so it's important to maintain good intestinal transit.

GLOSSARY

alcohol

A general term referring to a family of substances that can be mixed with water and fats. The most common alcohol is ethyl alcohol (ethanol), but there are many other types of alcohol: methanol, butanol, etc. The proof of an alcoholic solution corresponds to the volume of pure alcohol present in 100 ml of solution, bearing in mind that 1 wine glass or 1 half-pint of beer (25 cl) contains approximately 8 g of alcohol.

When alcohol is used as an antiseptic, a denaturant with an unpleasant odor is often added to prevent it from being drunk. Contrary to popular belief, 70% alcohol (or even 60% alcohol) is a better antiseptic than 90% alcohol.

See the article: Alcohol Dependence

complex

A term used to describe a combination of several homeopathic remedies. Generally, the dilutions used are low: from 3 DH (Hahnemannian decimal) to 6 CH (Hahnemannian centesimal).

cystitis

An infection of the bladder characterized by a burning sensation, cloudy and sometimes bloody urine, and a frequent urge to urinate.

See the article: Urinary tract infection (cystitis)

DH

Abbreviation for Hahnemannian decimal. It corresponds to a 1:10 dilution of a homeopathic substance (i.e., 1 part substance to 9 parts water). 6 DH means that the substance (mother tincture) has undergone 6 successive 1:10 dilutions.

epilepsy

A chronic condition characterized by seizures, linked to an abnormality in the electrical activity of a group of brain cells. Its manifestations, which vary in intensity, range from a sudden loss of attention (absences, or petit mal) to loss of consciousness accompanied by abnormal muscle movements (convulsions, or grand mal). Partial epilepsy, as the name suggests, does not affect the entire body: the jerky movements affect only one or more muscle groups.

See the article: Epilepsy

Gout

A condition characterized by redness and severe pain in a joint (most commonly the big toe), caused by a buildup of uric acid crystals.

See the article: Gout

homeopathy

A form of treatment based on two principles: the use of substances that produce effects similar to the symptoms of the disease they are intended to treat, and the infinitesimal dilution of these substances.

See the articles: Homeopathic Medicines

liver failure

The liver’s inability to perform its function, which is primarily the elimination of certain waste products, but also the synthesis of numerous biological substances essential to the body: albumin, cholesterol, and clotting factors (vitamin K, etc.).

Otitis

Inflammation or infection of the ear. Otitis externa affects only the ear canal. Acute otitis media and chronic serous otitis affect the part of the ear located behind the eardrum (middle ear).

See the articles: Otitis and Ear Pain in Adults and Acute Otitis in Children.

Sinusitis

Inflammation or infection of the sinuses.

See the article: Sinusitis.

homeopathic treatment

Treatment based on the administration of highly diluted substances of plant, animal, or mineral origin. The main principles of homeopathy are similarity (the use of substances that produce effects similar to the symptoms of the illness), infinitesimal dilution (the substances used undergo multiple dilutions), and holism (the treatment targets not a specific organ, but the individual as a whole).
