Climbing ivy is a rustic plant. It can grow 30 to 45 cm each year, and its branches measure between 10 and 15 m. In ancient Greece, the Greeks used to make a drink, consisting of a mixture of wine and macerated ivy leaves, in order to protect themselves from poisoning. Later, in Europe, it was thought that ivy had febrifuge, purgative, sudorific and vermifuge properties. It was therefore attributed much more benefits than today. More recently, the plant has been used to soothe burns , ulcers, rheumatic and neuralgic pain.
