What is Hyonate Solution Injectable 2ml Bayer bottle used for?

Hyaluronic acid is a component of connective tissue in all mammals, and is widely distributed in tissues and intracellular fluids. Hyaluronic acid is synthesized in synoviocytes.

HYONATE Solution Injectable is formulated with hyaluronic acid, an essential substance for joint health. It is available in 2 ml vials, with a concentration of 40 mg of active substance per vial. Each vial contains 4 ml of hyaluronic acid, 2 ml of which is intended for intra-articular administration, corresponding to 20 mg of active substance.

Hyaluronic acid is a natural component of connective tissue found in all mammals, including horses. It is widely distributed throughout the body's tissues and intracellular fluids. Hyaluronic acid plays an essential role in joint health by maintaining the viscosity of synovial fluid. It helps lubricate joints, reduce friction and protect articular cartilage.

HYONATE Injectable Solution is intended for use under the supervision of a veterinarian. It is important to note that this product is only available for sale on site at the pharmacy and requires a valid veterinary prescription to be obtained. HYONATE is administered intra-articularly, which means it is injected directly into the horse's affected joint.

The use of HYONATE Injectable Solution offers several significant benefits for equine joint health:

  • Hyaluronic acid helps reduce joint pain and inflammation, offering relief to horses suffering from conditions such as osteoarthritis.
  • By maintaining the viscosity of synovial fluid, hyaluronic acid helps lubricate joints, reducing friction and preventing premature wear of cartilage.
  • HYONATE protects articular cartilage by improving synovial fluid fluidity and promoting better nutrition of cartilage cells.
  • By promoting the regeneration and repair of damaged joint tissue, HYONATE can contribute to faster recovery from injury.

To care for your horses' joint health, we also offer Traumasédyl GA Contusions Solution Buvable Boiron 1 L, to manage contusions.

Precautions for use

  • Hypersensitivity to exogenously administered sodium hyaluronate.
  • Occasionally, after intra-articular application you may experience a common reaction (swelling, tenderness, lameness) which, in most cases, disappears spontaneously after a few days.
  • This product contains no antimicrobial preservatives. Discard any unused product and empty bottle after use.
  • Strict aseptic technique must be observed when injecting Hyonate for horses. As with any other intra-articular treatment, it is important to immobilize the animal and disinfect the puncture site correctly. Before injection, excess synovial fluid must be aseptically removed. Avoid scraping the cartilage surface with the tip of the injection needle. For best results, the horse should be rested for three days after intra-articular treatment, and gradually return to normal activity.
  • In the event of accidental self-injection, seek medical advice immediately and show the packaging or label. People with a known hypersensitivity to hyaluronic acid should avoid contact with the veterinary drug.
