When should Melioran D-Biotic be used to support gut flora?
Melioran D-Biotic combines three probiotic strains, palmitoylethanolamide, and four vitamins in a single vegetarian capsule. Each capsule provides 5 billion lactic acid bacteria, comprising Lactobacillus helveticus LA102, Bifidobacterium longum LA101, and Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus GG LA801, as well as 25 mg of palmitoylethanolamide, better known by the abbreviation PEA. PEA is a molecule that the body synthesizes naturally; it is a fatty acid derivative found in many tissues.
Probiotics help maintain the balance of the gut microbiota—the collection of microorganisms that inhabit the gut and change in response to diet, lifestyle, or medical treatment. The Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus GG strain is one of the most extensively studied lactic acid bacteria. For a formula designed for a different purpose—such as digestive or intimate health—you’ll find other combinations of strains in our selection of probiotics available at pharmacies.
The formula combines these strains with three B vitamins. Vitamins B6 and B12 contribute to the normal functioning of the nervous system and to normal psychological functions. Vitamin B9, provided in the form of methylated folate, also contributes to normal psychological functions.
Vitamin D3 is the most significant component of the formula, with 50 µg per capsule, or 2,000 IU. Vitamin D supports the normal functioning of the immune system and helps maintain normal bones. The skin produces it when exposed to sunlight, but from October through March in our part of the world, sunlight is no longer sufficient for this synthesis: this is the season when people turn to this type of supplement, both at the start of the school year and throughout the winter.
Melioran D-Biotic does not contain any omega-3 fatty acids. DHA helps maintain normal brain function at a dose of 250 mg per day or more. It logically complements the B vitamins in this formula without duplicating their benefits. For this purpose, we recommend Nat & Form Omega 3 Premium Epax, a concentrated fish oil that contains neither vitamin D nor B vitamins.

Precautions
- Not recommended for children under 10 years of age.
- Pregnant or breastfeeding women, and children 10 years of age and older: consult a healthcare professional before use. There is insufficient safety data on PEA during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
- The vitamin D3 dose in each capsule corresponds to the maximum daily dose permitted in France for a dietary supplement taken without medical supervision. Do not combine this product with any other source of vitamin D (supplements, multivitamins, cod liver oil, or prescribed drops or ampoules) without medical advice.
- For a 10-year-old child, this dose alone reaches the upper safety limit for vitamin D established for this age group: no additional vitamin D should be added.
- Not recommended in cases of excess calcium in the blood or urine (hypercalcemia, hypercalciuria), calcium kidney stones, or nephrocalcinosis.
- If you have sarcoidosis or kidney failure, consult your doctor before use.
- If you are taking digoxin, medication for heart rhythm disorders, or a thiazide diuretic, consult your doctor: vitamin D supplementation increases the risk of excess calcium and heart rhythm disturbances.
- Orlistat, cholestyramine, and other chelating resins reduce the absorption of vitamin D; enzyme-inducing antiepileptic drugs (phenobarbital, phenytoin, carbamazepine), corticosteroids, and rifampin reduce its effectiveness. Inform your pharmacist of these medications.
- If you have an immune deficiency, are on immunosuppressive therapy, undergoing chemotherapy, or have a central venous catheter, do not take probiotics without consulting a doctor.
- If you experience abdominal pain, persistent diarrhea, or worsening digestive discomfort, stop taking the product and seek medical advice.
- If you experience nausea, headaches, muscle or bone pain, or palpitations, stop taking the product and consult a doctor.
- Do not exceed the recommended daily dose.
- Dietary supplements should be used as part of a healthy lifestyle and are not a substitute for a varied and balanced diet.
- Store in a cool, dry place, out of reach of children.

Our expert advice on Melioran D-Biotic and vitamin D3
Before taking the first capsule, the issue of vitamin D must be addressed—well before probiotics. The dosage in this formula leaves no room for error. The most common overlap we encounter at the counter often goes unnoticed: vitamin D is hidden in products people don’t think to mention—even a prescription from the previous winter. Bring us a list of everything you’re already taking, including supplements: it only takes a minute to check.
This supplement supports a balanced gut flora and provides vitamins that benefit the nervous system. It does not address low mood, anxiety, or sleep problems that have been worsening for several weeks: these symptoms require a medical consultation, not a second bottle. We recommend evaluating the treatment over the course of the entire month rather than after just a few days.
FAQ
Can I take Melioran D-Biotic while on antibiotics?
Yes, provided you space out the doses by at least two to three hours. If taken at the same time as the antibiotic, the Melioran D-Biotic capsule would expose its lactic acid bacteria to the antibiotic before they reach the intestine. The prescribed treatment should continue as usual.
Can I take Melioran D-Biotic with breakfast instead of on an empty stomach?
It is still best to take it on an empty stomach. An empty stomach is less acidic and empties more quickly, which means the lactic acid bacteria are exposed to stomach acid for a shorter period of time. Waiting about a quarter of an hour before breakfast is sufficient. Taking it occasionally with a meal poses no risk; it is simply less beneficial for the bacterial strains.
Can I take Melioran D-Biotic continuously throughout the year?
Probiotics are best taken in spaced-out courses rather than continuously, two to four times a year as needed. With Melioran D-Biotic, vitamin D is also included: taking 2,000 IU daily for several months should be discussed with your doctor, who may order a blood test to check your vitamin D levels before deciding whether to continue the treatment.
Is it normal to experience bloating at the start of a Melioran D-Biotic treatment course?
Yes, this can happen. Some bloating or gas may occur during the first few days of a probiotic regimen while the gut flora adjusts. These symptoms usually subside within one to two weeks. These temporary symptoms do not warrant discontinuing the Melioran D-Biotic regimen.
