When should you use Bloxaphte+ to relieve oral discomfort?

Bloxaphte+ Soothing Clove Oral Gel is an oral gel with calming and cleansing properties, formulated around clove, which is present in two forms: essential oil and flower bud extract. It combines clove with hyaluronic acid (in the form of sodium hyaluronate), panthenol (provitamin B5), rose, and aloe vera leaf juice. Xylitol, the second ingredient in the formula, gives it a slightly sweet flavor.

This gel soothes localized oral discomfort: sensitive gums, an irritated inner cheek or lip, or an area that causes discomfort when eating or speaking. Clove is traditionally used to promote oral comfort, and both hyaluronic acid and panthenol help maintain the comfort of the mucous membranes. When applied directly to the affected area, it promotes a healthy oral environment where the discomfort is concentrated.

Its adhesive texture allows for targeted action: the gel stays on the mucous membrane instead of dissolving immediately in saliva, thanks to polycarbophil, a polymer that adheres to moist surfaces. It forms a long-lasting protective film that envelops the affected area and helps shield it from external irritants, such as contact with food, hot beverages, or brushing.

It comes in handy in everyday situations: accidentally biting your cheek, a piece of bread crust rubbing against your gums, or friction from dentures or orthodontic appliances. The applicator deposits the gel precisely at the back of the mouth, and the 10-ml tube fits easily into a pocket or toiletry bag. Around a sensitive area, brushing remains essential; it should be done gently, using one of our soft-bristled toothbrushes designed for sensitive gums.

When the discomfort is caused by a bracket or orthodontic wire that consistently rubs against the same spot, the gel soothes the mucous membrane but does not eliminate the friction. For this, we recommend Gum Ortho pre-cut orthodontic wax: when applied to the protruding part of the appliance, it creates a smooth surface between the appliance and the cheek, while the gel works on the already irritated area.

How do you apply this soothing oral gel?

Directions for Use

Apply a small amount of gel to the sensitive area using the applicator, 2 to 3 times a day as needed. Avoid eating or drinking for 30 minutes after application for optimal effectiveness.

Precautions

  • Do not swallow. For topical use inside the mouth only.
  • Suitable for adults and children ages 6 and up. For children, application must be performed by an adult using a small amount: clove essential oil is dangerous if ingested in large quantities by young children.
  • Do not use if you have a known allergy to clove, eugenol, Peru balsam (documented cross-allergy), rose, aloe vera, or any of the ingredients. The formula contains eugenol, a declared allergen.
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding: Since there is insufficient data on clove essential oil, consult your doctor or pharmacist before use.
  • If irritation, a burning sensation, swelling, or any allergic reaction occurs, discontinue use and rinse your mouth with water.
  • Toothache, teeth sensitive to heat or cold, or swelling of the gums or cheeks: consult a dentist. This gel is applied to the oral mucosa and does not address the underlying dental cause.
  • If discomfort persists for more than a week, if a mouth sore does not heal within two weeks, if it bleeds or spreads, or if you have numerous or recurring canker sores, or if they are accompanied by a fever: consult a doctor or dentist.
  • Close the tube after use. Store away from heat and out of the reach of children.

Our expert advice on Bloxaphte+ for oral comfort

Before your first application, the key ingredient to note is clove. It’s what makes this formula unique, and it determines who it’s suitable for. Those already familiar with the classic Bloxaphte often assume the same level of tolerance—but that’s not the case. Reread the precautions with this single point in mind; the rest of the usage poses no difficulty.

At the counter, we recommend applying the gel after eating and brushing, never right before a meal: the film adheres better to clean oral mucosa, so dry the area first with a compress or tissue. Discomfort that always occurs in the same spot often has a mechanical cause, such as a chipped tooth edge, a denture clasp, or a poorly fitted orthodontic appliance. The gel provides relief; it’s an adjustment by the dentist that stops the recurring discomfort.

FAQ

What’s the difference between Bloxaphte+ and the Bloxaphte Adult Gel I’m already using?

These are two distinct products. Bloxaphte Adult Gel for Canker Sores and Oral Lesions 15 ml is a medical device containing hyaluronic acid, intended for canker sores and oral lesions. Bloxaphte+ Soothing Oral Gel with Clove is an oral care product with a different formula, centered on clove and supplemented with rose, aloe vera, and panthenol, for localized discomfort in the mouth. Therefore, one does not replace the other: the choice depends on the discomfort you’re experiencing and whether or not you tolerate clove.

Can I apply Bloxaphte+ to a tooth that hurts?

Clove is the best-known home remedy for toothaches, which explains the question. However, Bloxaphte+ is formulated for the oral mucosa: the gums, the inside of the cheeks, and the lips. Pain originating from the tooth itself stems from the pulp, beneath the enamel—a place where a gel applied to the surface cannot reach. Applying it to the gums around the sensitive tooth, on the other hand, is still very effective.

Does Bloxaphte+ sting when you apply it?

The formula is alcohol-free and designed not to sting upon contact with the mucous membranes—an important consideration for an area that’s already sensitive. Its flavor is dominated by clove, which is warm and spicy, softened by xylitol and the floral note of rose.
