When should you use this glove to apply self-tanner?

The Bondi Sands Reusable Self-Tanning Applicator Glove is a soft glove designed to spread self-tanning products over the body. It contains no product itself: the self-tanner is applied to its surface, and the glove then distributes it onto the skin instead of your palm.

Self-tanning ingredients color any skin they come into contact with, including the palms and nails. The glove acts as a barrier between the product and your hand, keeping your hands stain-free throughout the application, even when covering the entire body.

Its soft surface spreads the product in a thin, even layer, without excess product between the fingers or palm marks. This helps achieve an even, streak-free tan, especially on large areas like the legs.

It’s perfect for both a first try with self-tanner and regular use during the season: reusable and washable, it can be used again and again.

The glove simply distributes the product: the color, its intensity, and how long it takes to develop depend on the product applied to it. For this purpose, we recommend SVR Sun Secure self-tanning mousse, a lightweight mousse for the face and body that builds a tan gradually, application after application. Its texture transfers easily to the glove, making the frequent applications required for a gradual tan easier to perform without staining your hands.

How do you use this applicator glove?

Instructions for Use

On clean, exfoliated skin (without moisturizer), apply the self-tanner to the glove, then spread it over your legs, arms, and body using long, sweeping motions; use the remaining product on the glove for your hands, elbows, knees, and feet. After use, rinse the glove with lukewarm water.

Our Expert Tips on the Bondi Sands Self-Tanning Applicator Glove

The result of a self-tanner depends less on the applicator than on the skin it’s applied to: a glove can’t compensate for skin that hasn’t been properly exfoliated or for residual moisturizer, which can cause darker or lighter patches regardless of the applicator used. The point people most often overlook is the wrists: the glove protects them during application, but they form a transition zone. A light swipe using only the product left on the glove—blended toward the back of the hand—prevents a sharp line.

A poorly rinsed glove retains self-tanning residue that dries in the fibers and is reapplied during the next session: an area that appears darker for no apparent reason often stems from this. Therefore, continue rinsing until the water runs clear.

FAQ

Can I machine-wash the Bondi Sands Reusable Self-Tanning Applicator Glove?

This glove is not intended for machine washing; it should be rinsed with lukewarm water. Manufacturers of similar applicator gloves often advise against machine washing, as the agitation can distort the foam layer and damage the fabric.

How long can I use the Bondi Sands Reusable Self-Tanning Applicator Glove?

There is no set lifespan for this glove. For similar applicator gloves, replacement is typically needed after about three months with frequent use and after more than six months with occasional use. If the fabric becomes rough or remains stained despite rinsing, it will distribute the product less evenly—this is a sign that it’s time to replace it.

Which self-tanners can I use with the Bondi Sands Reusable Self-Tanning Applicator Glove?

It can be used with self-tanning products in foam, lotion, or mist form, which are applied to its surface before being spread, such as the 1-Hour Express Self-Tanning Foam from the same brand.
