When should you use C-Powder Flash to brighten your complexion?
DermEden C-Powder Flash is a facial serum containing 20% pure vitamin C in the form of L-ascorbic acid. This form is also the most unstable: when exposed to water, air, and light, it oxidizes and loses its active concentration. The serum therefore keeps the vitamin C in powder form, in a compartment separate from the liquid: it dissolves only when you activate the vial. The resulting mixture has a pH of 3.2 to 3.5, the acidic range ideal for pure vitamin C. It is part of our range of radiance-boosting treatments for dull complexions, featuring a simple, concentrated formula.
Applied every morning, it helps restore radiance to a dull complexion, which may appear sallow due to fatigue, lack of sleep, or the end of summer. The word “Flash” in its name refers to a short-term treatment designed to restore radiance to the complexion over a specific period rather than for long-term use. Its watery texture lends itself to a layering routine: your usual moisturizer and sunscreen can be applied easily afterward.
With repeated use, vitamin C visibly smooths the skin’s texture: the surface of the face appears more even and reflects light better. On skin showing early signs of aging, it visibly smooths the finest lines, though it is not intended to replace a nighttime anti-aging treatment. These two effects build up with regular use, morning after morning.
The dilution serum also contains brown algae extract (Ascophyllum nodosum) and lemon extract. Combined with vitamin C, they help even out the pigmentation of an uneven complexion, marred by the marks summer leaves on the cheekbones and forehead. Fall is the perfect time for a skincare regimen: sun exposure decreases, while the late-summer tan becomes more noticeable.
Vitamin C works to enhance the radiance and evenness of the complexion, but it does not filter UV rays: the sun continues to darken the skin that it has evened out. For this, we recommendIsdin Fotoprotector Fusion Water Magic SPF50, a water-based facial sunscreen designed for daily use. Applied over the serum every morning, it filters out UVA and UVB rays while vitamin C works to even out the skin tone: one maintains the radiance, the other prevents the sun from undoing that work.
How do you apply this pure vitamin C serum?
Instructions for Use
On the first day, press the white cap firmly to release the powder into the serum, shake vigorously for 15 seconds, let it sit for 1 minute, then replace the cap with the included dropper. Each morning, apply one dose to your entire clean, dry face (screw the pipette on as tightly as possible, press the bulb once, then unscrew it); open the second vial once the first one is finished.

Precautions
- For external use on the face only. Avoid the eye area and contact with the eyes; in case of contact, rinse immediately and thoroughly with clean water.
- For very sensitive skin or skin not accustomed to concentrated vitamin C: follow the gradual regimen. With the first vial, apply 2 doses every 2 days to the face, neck, and décolleté; once this vial is finished, take a break for 2 full days, then open the second vial and use one dose per day on the face.
- Highly concentrated, pure vitamin C with an acidic pH may cause redness, tingling, or tightness. If these symptoms persist or are accompanied by a burning or itching sensation, discontinue use and rinse with clean water. Do not increase the dose to speed up results.
- Do not apply to broken, irritated, or sunburned skin, or immediately after a chemical peel, laser treatment, or other dermatological procedure without your practitioner’s approval.
- If you are also using a retinoid, exfoliating acids (AHA, BHA), or another anti-dark spot treatment, introduce them gradually: skin irritation can itself cause dark spots.
- Apply SPF 50 sunscreen over the serum every morning, even in the fall and winter: without daily sun protection, the benefits for an even skin tone will not last.
- If a dark spot grows larger, changes color or shape, becomes irregular, or bleeds, seek medical advice before using any cosmetic treatment. Dark spots that appear during pregnancy or while taking hormonal birth control require a dermatologist’s evaluation.
- The powder contains sweet almond oil (Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis Oil): if you are allergic to almonds or tree nuts, consult your pharmacist before use.
- Once activated, the vial must be used within 5 days of mixing; after that, the vitamin C oxidizes. Do not save any leftover product.
- Close the vial with its pipette after each use and store it away from light and heat. Keep out of reach of children.

Our expert advice on DermEden C-Powder Flash for radiance
Such a highly concentrated form of pure vitamin C has a downside: it can be harsh on skin that isn’t used to it. Before activating the first vial, the real question isn’t effectiveness but tolerance: if your skin reddens easily, following a gradual approach to precautions takes priority over a daily routine. Irritation during the first few days often leads people to abandon a treatment regimen that would have been well tolerated with a gradual build-up.
We’re often asked at the counter in what order to apply skincare products in the morning: the serum first, on cleansed skin, then moisturizer if the skin needs it, with sunscreen always going on last. For the last application from a vial, the pipette may no longer draw up enough product: turn the vial upside down over the palm of your hand to collect the remaining product.
FAQ
Why is the DermEden C-Powder Flash pipette only half-filled?
The DermEden C-Powder Flash pipette is calibrated to dispense one dose with each squeeze of the bulb; this dose corresponds to approximately half the pipette’s capacity. A half-filled pipette is therefore normal: it does not indicate a defect or a shortage of product.
Can I use DermEden C-Powder Flash with my retinol serum?
Yes, as long as you space them out throughout the day: DermEden C-Powder Flash is applied in the morning, while retinol, like other retinoids, is reserved for your evening skincare routine.
Why does my DermEden C-Powder Flash serum change color?
As it oxidizes, ascorbic acid transforms into dehydroascorbic acid, which turns yellow and then brown. An activated serum that has darkened significantly has lost some of its active vitamin C.
Can I use several DermEden C-Powder Flash treatment courses in a row?
Yes: you can use the kits one after another without a mandatory break. Prolonged use for about one month corresponds to the serum’s “intensive treatment,” which goes beyond the short treatment involving a single kit.
