What is Ostenil 3 Pre-filled syringes 20mg/2ml used for?

Osteoarthritis is a degenerative joint disease resulting from the progressive destruction of cartilage. This is accompanied by a deterioration in the synovial fluid, which loses its viscoelasticity, limiting its lubricating and cushioning role. As a result, movements become painful, mobility is reduced and joint comfort deteriorates. Faced with these symptoms, the use of a viscosupplementation solution such as Ostenil is an effective response to relieve pain and restore joint function.

Hyaluronic acid, a natural component of synovial fluid, plays an essential role in the proper functioning of stressed joints. Over time, its concentration diminishes, affecting mobility and promoting cartilage wear. Ostenil, a hyaluronic acid-based viscoelastic solution, is designed to restore synovial fluid quality and improve joint lubrication. Administered intra-articularly, it compensates for loss of viscosity and restores joints to their original suppleness.

Specifically, Ostenil is indicated in cases of joint pain and reduced mobility due to osteoarthritis or trauma. It is particularly useful for the knee, which bears a heavy daily load, but can also be used for other synovial joints. By improving the quality of synovial fluid, it helps prolong joint life and, in some cases, delays the need for more invasive treatments.

Pre-filled syringes facilitate safe administration by a healthcare professional. Each 2 ml syringe contains 20 mg sodium hyaluronate (1%), providing optimal viscoelasticity to restore joint function.

In short, Ostenil is a safe, effective solution for preventing joint stiffness, restoring fluid mobility and limiting the progression of osteoarthritis.

We also recommend Ostenil Plus 40 mg Solution Injectable 2 ml, at the best price in our online pharmacy.

How do I use this product?

Ostenil should be injected directly into the affected joint. The protocol recommends one injection per week for three weeks. If necessary, a new treatment cycle may be considered, depending on the patient's response.

Before administration, remove the pre-filled syringe from its sterile packaging, remove the cap from the Luer lock tip, attach a suitable needle (19 to 21 G) and check that it is securely in place. Before injection, purge any air bubbles from the syringe. The product and syringe remain sterile as long as the packaging is intact.

In the event of joint effusion, it is preferable to first reduce it by aspiration, cold application or corticosteroid injection. Ostenil injections can be resumed after 2 to 3 days.

FORMS and PRESENTATIONS
Viscoelastic solution for injection into the joint cavity: 20 mg/2 ml pre-filled syringes, sterile pack, box of 3. Steam sterilized.
COMPOSITION
Isotonic solution :p ml
Sodium hyaluronate
10 mg
Excipients: sodium chloride, monosodium phosphate, disodium phosphate, ppi water.
PROPERTIES
Synovial fluid, whose viscoelasticity is linked to the presence of hyaluronic acid, is present in all synovial joints, and particularly in weight-bearing joints, where it enables normal, pain-free movement thanks to its lubricating and shock-absorbing properties. It also provides nutritional support for cartilage. In degenerative joint conditions such as osteoarthritis, the viscoelasticity of synovial fluid is significantly reduced, leading to a reduction in its lubricating and shock-absorbing functions. This increases the mechanical load on the joint and the destruction of cartilage. The result is reduced mobility and pain in the affected joint. Supplementing synovial fluid with intra-articular injections of highly purified hyaluronic acid improves the viscoelastic properties of the synovial fluid. Lubricating and shock-absorbing properties are enhanced, and mechanical overload of the joint is reduced. As a general rule, the result is a reduction in pain and an improvement in joint mobility that lasts for several months after a treatment cycle of a minimum of 3 consecutive injections.
INDICATIONS
Pain and reduced mobility in degenerative and traumatic alterations of the knee joint and other synovial joints.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Inject Ostenil into the affected joint once a week, for a minimum of 3 consecutive injections.
Several joints can be treated simultaneously. Depending on the severity of the joint condition, the beneficial effects of a treatment cycle of a minimum of 3 consecutive injections will last at least 6 months. Treatment cycles can be repeated if necessary. In the event of joint effusion, it is advisable to reduce the effusion by aspiration, rest, application of an ice pack and/or intra-articular injection of a corticosteroid. Treatment with Ostenil can then be resumed two to three days later.
The contents and outer surface of the Ostenil pre-filled syringe remain sterile as long as the sterile packaging remains intact.
Remove the pre-filled syringe from the sterile packaging, unscrew the Luer cap from the syringe, attach a suitable needle (e.g. 19 or 21 G) and ensure that it is securely attached by turning it slightly. Before injection, remove any air bubbles from the syringe.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
History of hypersensitivity to any of the components.
PRECAUTIONS FOR USE

Particular care should be taken in patients with known hypersensitivity to drugs. General precautions relating to intra-articular injections should be taken, including measures to avoid joint infection. Ostenil injections should be performed specifically in the joint cavity, if necessary under scopic control. Injections into blood vessels and surrounding tissue should be avoided.

In the absence of clinical data on the use of hyaluronic acid in children, pregnant or breastfeeding women, or in inflammatory joint conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis or Bekhterev's disease, Ostenil is not recommended for use in these patients.

Do not use if pre-filled syringe or sterile packaging is damaged.

Any solution not used immediately after opening should be discarded. Otherwise, sterility is no longer guaranteed.

Interactions :
Ostenil should not be used with instruments sterilized with solutions containing quaternary ammonium salts. To date, no data are available on the incompatibility of Ostenil with other intra-articular solutions.

Patients may benefit from taking analgesics or oral anti-inflammatory medication during the first few days of treatment.

Undesirable effects :
Local manifestations such as pain, heat, redness and swelling may occur in the joint treated with Ostenil. Applying an ice pack for 5-10 minutes to the treated area will reduce the incidence of these effects.

The place of homeopathy in the treatment of osteoarthritis The place of homeopathy in the treatment of osteoarthritis

Osteoarthritis is a degenerative disease of the joint characterized by destruction of the articular cartilage and marginal osteophytosis . Two forms of osteoarthritis are described: primary osteoarthritis and secondary osteoarthritis . In primary osteoarthritis, there is no clear or precise triggering cause. It mainly occurs in the subject over fifty years, presenting a predisposed ground. Secondary osteoarthritis follows a joint fracture, joint dysfunction of various causes (septic arthritis, malformation, etc.). It can be…
