What is Glyco-thymoline 55 mouthwash used for?

Glyco-thymoline is a medicine recommended for the local treatment of mouth problems in adults and children from 6 years of age.
This mouthwash comes in the form of a 250 ml bottle.

The active ingredients are sodium benzoate 2.040 g, sodium salicylate 0.090 g, borax 2.000 g, thymol 0.037 g, cineole 0.075 g, levomenthol 0.037 g per 100 g of oral solution.

The other active ingredients are the essential oil of Scots pine , sodium bicarbonate, glycerol, alcohol, polysorbate 80, cochineal red A (E 124), and purified water.

How to properly use Glyco-thymoline 55 mouthwash 250 ml?

Do not swallow, do not apply to the skin or mucous membranes other than the oral mucosa.

Local use. 2 to 3 times a day :

· Application of the undiluted product on the areas to be treated, using compresses or cotton.

· This product can be used as a mouthwash: use the product half diluted with hot water.

What are the side effects and contraindications?

External use. Do not swallow. Store in a clean, dry place away from heat, humidity and light. Always keep out of the reach of children.

Glyco-thymoline mouthwash is contraindicated in case of allergy to salicylates or to another related drug (an anti-inflammatory or aspirin) or to another of the constituents of this mouthwash. Knowing that this medication contains an azo dye, cochineal red A (E124) which can cause allergic reactions. It is also contraindicated for children under six years old.

Be careful, certain constituents of this medication (eucalyptol, menthol, thymol), taken in high doses, could lead to neurological accidents such as convulsions in children. It is therefore necessary to respect the instructions for use.

If ever the symptoms worsen such as fever, or if no improvement is obtained after five days, medical advice is advised.
