The tannins present in sea buckthorn interact with the membrane mucosa to prevent the attack of pathogens and irritants. In addition, tannins interact with mucosal and saliva proteins to form a barrier to external irritant adhesion and affect pain, burning, and difficulty swallowing.
The polysaccharides contained in the MUCOBARRYL® complex absorb water and maintain the hydration of irritated tissues.
