What is this automatic insecticide diffuser for the home used for?

Beaphar Automatic Insecticide Diffuser for the Home + Geraniol is an insecticidal and acaricidal aerosol, a TP18-class biocidal insecticide, designed for treating living spaces and areas frequented by pets: pet beds, doghouses, sofas, and cars. It activates once placed in the center of the room and empties completely in about three minutes, while the room remains closed.

Its formula combines four active ingredients. Permethrin is the primary insecticide; piperonyl butoxide enhances its effectiveness; (S)-methoprene blocks the development of eggs and larvae; and geraniol rounds out the formula. The product targets adult fleas, eggs, and larvae hidden in rugs, carpets, baseboards, and cracks.

The target pests include fleas, lice, ticks, chiggers, bed bugs, scabies mites, spiders, ants, cockroaches, and moths.

This diffuser treats the home, not the pet: treatment for your dog or cat must be chosen separately, using a product suited to its species and weight, from among repellents, tick removers, and pet treatments.

A tick already attached to the animal is not addressed by home treatment: it must be removed mechanically, using a hook such as the Biocanina 2-Hook Tick Remover, with a twisting motion, without squeezing its body.

How do you use this insecticide diffuser in the home?

Instructions for Use

• Turn off all running electrical appliances, extinguish any open flames, and turn off all heat sources. Close exterior doors and windows; open interior doors and cupboards.
• Remove pets from the home, move or cover aquariums, and remove food and kitchen utensils.
• Place the aerosol can in the center of the area to be treated, using one 200-ml can per 65 m². Do not empty the entire can in a room measuring 4 m² or less.
• Press the spray until it locks into place and the spray begins to dispense, then leave the room and close the door.
• Wait 3 hours, then ventilate the room for 1 hour without staying inside. If necessary, repeat the treatment every 6 months, or after one month in the event of a severe reinfestation.

Precautions

• This product is intended solely for the insecticidal and larvicidal treatment of homes. Do not spray on animals or in the presence of newborn puppies or kittens.
• Danger. Extremely flammable aerosol. Pressurized container: may burst if heated. Keep away from heat, hot surfaces, sparks, open flames, and other sources of ignition. Do not smoke. Do not spray onto an open flame or any other source of ignition. Be mindful of pilot lights on gas boilers and water heaters, which remain lit even when the appliance is turned off.
• Do not puncture or burn, even after use. Protect from sunlight. Do not expose to temperatures exceeding 50 °C.
• Contains permethrin (ISO) and geraniol. May cause a skin allergy. Causes severe eye irritation. Wear protective gloves. In case of skin contact: wash thoroughly with water. In case of irritation or rash: consult a doctor. Remove contaminated clothing and wash it before reuse.
• Avoid breathing in the aerosol. Do not eat or smoke while using this product. Do not remain in the room during application, the waiting period, or ventilation. Children, pregnant women, and people with asthma or respiratory allergies should stay out of the treated area for the entire duration.
• Permethrin is toxic to cats, even in small doses. Keep cats out of the treated area until ventilation is complete, and do not let them lie on treated textiles that are still damp. If a cat comes into contact with the product, wash it with lukewarm water and soap and contact a veterinarian immediately.
• Remove all animals from the area, including birds, rodents, reptiles, and captive insects, and do not return them until after ventilation is complete.
• Highly toxic to aquatic organisms, causing long-term adverse effects. Move or cover aquariums, and turn off the air pump during application. Avoid releasing the product into the environment. Collect any spilled product.
• After ventilation, wash food preparation surfaces, pet bowls, and children’s toys that were in the room.
• The product may leave a slippery film on smooth surfaces: be careful not to slip on tile or sealed hardwood floors.
• Do not use for any purpose other than that for which the product is intended. Do not exceed the recommended dosage; follow the recommended treatment volume. Do not use this diffuser in combination with another indoor insecticide in the same room.
• If medical advice is needed, have the container or label available. In case of accidental ingestion or exposure, contact a poison control center (UFI: W4KM-M723-7C28-T5WN).
• Dispose of the contents and container in accordance with local regulations.
• Use and store only in well-ventilated areas, away from direct sunlight and at temperatures below 50 °C, out of the reach of children.

Should I turn off the mechanical ventilation system before using the Beaphar Automatic Insecticide Diffuser for the Home + Geraniol?

The instructions for this diffuser do not mention the mechanical ventilation system. A mechanical ventilation system that remains on extracts air from the room during diffusion and, in an apartment building, may discharge it into a shared duct. The labels on other diffusers of the same type explicitly instruct you to turn it off during treatment and turn it back on for ventilation.

Should I vacuum before or after using the Beaphar Automatic Insecticide Diffuser for the Home + Geraniol?
