Occasional constipation affects millions of people in France, but this gastrointestinal disorder, the most common among adults, is particularly common among women, who suffer from it two to three times more often than men. Diet, a sedentary lifestyle and lack of exercise are common factors, but female hormones are also thought to play a role. In fact, 45% of women consider that they have always been more or less constipated, to the point of feeling anxious about it on a daily basis.
What is Dulcosoft Constipation Macrogol 4000 used for?
DulcoSoft sachets are used for the symptomatic treatment of constipation. The main component of DulcoSoft® is macrogol 4000, an osmotic laxative.
Macrogol 4000 has a high water-holding capacity. It acts as a carrier to transport liquid (water) and delays intestinal absorption of water, leading to an increase in the amount of water in the colon. It softens hard stools and increases their volume. This speeds up transit and makes evacuation easier, offering a sensation of natural relief. Macrogol 4000 has a purely physical mode of action: it is not absorbed by the body and is excreted unchanged.
Both discreet and powerful, Dulcosoft Constipation Macrogol 4000 tackles a commonly neglected and often taboo problem: occasional constipation. Whether you're a teenager, an adult or a child aged 8 and over, you can fall victim to this phenomenon. Pregnant and breast-feeding women should use this product only on medical advice.
In fact, constipation can occur for a number of reasons, including an unsuitable diet or the use of certain medications. This digestive disorder, although common, can lead to significant complications if left unchecked. Fecal impaction, or an accumulation of hardened fecal matter, and hemorrhoids, caused by excessive straining during defecation, are among the possible consequences of constipation. Dulcosoft Constipation Macrogol 4000, available in sachets, offers you a gentle, effective solution.
Dulcosoft's sole active ingredient is macrogol 4000. Macrogol is an osmotic laxative whose mode of action draws water into the intestine, helping to hydrate and soften stools. By increasing stool volume, it facilitates transit through the intestine, offering a gentle but effective response to constipation. Macrogol 4000 has the advantage of not being absorbed by the body, and begins to take effect between 24 and 72 hours after intake.
Dulcosoft Constipation Macrogol 4000 is also distinguished by its ease of use. Tasteless, it can be easily dissolved in hot or cold beverages, or simply in water, making it virtually imperceptible when consumed. For those with gluten intolerance, you'll be reassured to know that this product is gluten-free.

How to use this Laxative with Macrogol 4000?
- DulcoSoft has an unflavored taste and can be dissolved (sachet) or mixed directly (drinkable solution) in water or in a cold or hot beverage (approx. 150 ml): glass of water, fruit juice or tea, for example.
- Unless otherwise prescribed by your doctor, the recommended dose is: 1 to 2 sachets a day, dissolved in a drink, preferably all at once in the morning.
- You can adapt the above recommended dose to suit your individual needs: from one dose (1 to 2 sachets) per day to one dose (1 to 2 sachets) every 2 days.
- The appropriate dose is the lowest dose that produces regular soft stools.
Children under 8 years of age should not use this product.
DulcoSoft usually takes 24 to 72 hours to take effect. It should not be taken for more than 15 days. If constipation persists, the cause should be investigated.
Do not take a double dose of DulcoSoft if you have forgotten your previous dose.
Excessive doses of DulcoSoft may cause diarrhea, abdominal pain, abdominal distension or vomiting, which stops when treatment is stopped or the dose is reduced.
Significant fluid losses due to diarrhea or vomiting may require correction of electrolyte imbalance. In these circumstances, contact a doctor.
There are several types of constipation:
- Acute constipation: intestinal transit decreases, thereby reducing the frequency of bowel movements. The patient finds it harder to defecate and may end up not having a bowel movement at all.
- Transient or occasional constipation: when the patient has no more than 3 bowel movements a week for several weeks at a time.
- Severe constipation, which can last several days. It is also resistant to treatment, with the patient having only one bowel movement a week.
- Chronic constipation: severe constipation that occurs suddenly over a shorter period of time, i.e. acute; or over several weeks or months, i.e. chronic.
