Clarix Expectorant Carbocisteine 5% Adult Syrup 250 mlthins secretions (mucus) in the bronchi. It helps clear them through coughing. It is indicated for a productive cough with difficulty expectorating, particularly during acute bronchitis.
Productive Cough: Don’t Let It Take Hold
A productive cough is a necessary response to eliminate phlegm (bronchial secretions), but this defense mechanism should be cause for concern if it persists. You can start by taking non-medicinal measures, such as drinking plenty of fluids (water, herbal teas with dark honey, etc.) and doing inhalations using essential oils of thyme, eucalyptus, and other herbs mixed with very hot water. Thyme tea is also recommended, as thyme is the ultimate cough-suppressing herb.
This medication is best taken between meals.
Usual dosage:
For children as young as 2 years old, 2% carbocisteine is recommended as it is more suitable.
Treatment may be discontinued as soon as symptoms improve. Without medical advice, treatment should not exceed 5 days for adults and 10 days for children.
The active ingredient is:
5 g of carbocisteine per 100 ml of syrup.
Other ingredients are:
Sodium saccharin, hydroxyethylcellulose, sodium hydroxide, methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E218), caramel flavoring, purified water.
Clarix Expectorant Carbocisteine 5% Adult Syrup for productive cough should not be used in children (under 15 years of age).

Take special care with CLARIX EXPECTORANT CARBOCISTEIN 5% ADULTS WITHOUT SUGAR, oral solution sweetened with saccharin sodium:
KEEP OUT OF THE REACH AND SIGHT OF CHILDREN.
A MEDICAL ADVICE IS NECESSARY:
· In case of fat and purulent expectoration, of fever,
· If you have chronic (long-term) bronchial or lung disease,
· In case of ulcer of the stomach or duodenum.
This drug should always be accompanied by voluntary efforts of coughing, allowing the sputum.
Do not take cough suppressant medication or bronchial secretion-drying medication during the carbocistein treatment period.
This medicine contains 33.3 mg sodium per measuring spoon (100 mg sodium in 3 spoons-measuring 5 ml): take this into account in people on a strict diet low in salt.
