Are frequent bowel syndrome?

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) are the most common intestinal diseases. They reach 15 to 20% of the population and is more common in women than in men. Symptoms usually begin before age 30. Subjects who suffer do not consult all. Synonyms are: irritable bowel syndrome and irritable bowel.

What symptoms suggest functional bowel disorders?

TFI is defined by symptoms combining:

  • diffuse or localized abdominal pain;
  • Vesper abdominal bloating or postprandial, with or without objective distension;
  • of bowel disorders: alternating diarrhea and constipation, with or without mucous emissions.

Diarrhea by acceleration of intestinal transit can be seen as a manifestation of TFI when no diarrhea cause is found.
By contrast, constipation without any other symptoms is not part of the TFI.
The TFI is not responsible for an impaired general condition or abnormalities of laboratory tests; colonic biopsies do not reveal mucosal abnormalities.
A dyspeptic syndrome is often associated with IBS.
