When should you choose this ointment for dry, irritated skin?

SVR Cicavit+ Ointment is a multi-purpose ointment-textured treatment designed for dry to very dry skin and irritated areas on the face, lips, and body. Its formula combines plant-based oils and butters—including shea butter, castor oil, coconut oil, and sweet almond oil—with a turmeric derivative, prebiotic sugars, and polysaccharides. It complements moisturizing and nourishing body care products wherever the skin feels tight, becomes chapped, or feels rough: hands, heels, elbows, as well as the lips and the area around the nostrils.

The plant-based oils and butters give the ointment its rich texture, which nourishes the skin and forms a nourishing protective barrier on its surface. This occlusive film protects the skin from external aggressors while allowing it to breathe.

The turmeric derivative soothes the skin, helps reduce the appearance of redness, and moisturizes it. Polysaccharides contribute to the protective barrier formed on the skin’s surface, while prebiotic sugars round out the formula. The ointment has been dermatologically tested on sensitive skin and is suitable for pregnant and breastfeeding women. On dry, chapped lips, it forms the same nourishing film as it does on the rest of the face.

It belongs in every family’s beauty kit, no matter the season. In winter, the intense cold dries out hands, chaps lips, and roughens heels and elbows. All year round, friction irritates the skin—whether from clothing, sports, or repeated nose-blowing, which leaves the sides of the nose red and uncomfortable. During hot weather, a thin layer also soothes areas irritated by friction.

Dry skin care begins right at bath time, especially for young children. For this, we recommend Mustela’s cold cream superfatted soap: it cleanses the dry skin of babies and children without drying it out, and then the ointment is applied to the cleansed and dry areas to nourish and protect the skin until the next bath.

How should this ointment be applied daily or as a mask?

Directions for Use

Apply to cleansed, dry areas of the face, body, or lips as often as needed; the ointment can also be used daily, morning and night. As a mask, for enhanced comfort: apply a generous layer, leave on for a few moments, then gently massage until fully absorbed, or leave on overnight.

Precautions

  • For external use only. Avoid contact with the eyes; if contact occurs, rinse thoroughly with clean water.
  • If skin discomfort persists, consult a healthcare professional.
  • Do not apply to open, deep, bleeding, or oozing wounds, or to burns: these conditions require medical attention.
  • Skin that is warm, swollen, painful, or oozing pus—and, in infants, redness that spreads, oozes, develops a rash, or lasts more than a few days—should be examined by a doctor.
  • Contains beeswax and sweet almond, castor, and coconut oils: do not use if you have a known allergy to any of the ingredients in the formula, particularly bee products.
  • Discontinue use if redness, persistent stinging, or a rash occurs, and consult a pharmacist or doctor.
  • Close the tube tightly after each use. Keep out of reach of children.

Our expert advice on SVR Cicavit+ Ointment for Dry Skin

An ointment works best when applied to a specific area. For daily care of large areas, such as the legs or back, a body lotion or cream spreads more quickly and feels more comfortable under clothing; the ointment is best reserved for stubborn areas: heels, elbows, hands, lips, and the sides of the nose.

Choose the size based on how you’ll use it. The small tube fits in a pocket or gym bag for your lips and nose—reapply after every meal or when you blow your nose; the large tube stays at home for your hands, heels, and the whole family’s skincare needs. For hands, applying a small amount after each handwashing is more effective than applying a thick layer just once at night.

FAQ

Does SVR Cicavit+ Ointment leave an oily film on my skin?

It leaves a richer finish than a cream, characteristic of a texture where oils and butters come before water. A small amount warmed between your fingers spreads more thinly and minimizes this sensation on visible areas, such as the face or hands, during the day.

Can I apply SVR Cicavit+ Ointment to my face if I’m prone to breakouts?

The formula is not marketed as non-comedogenic and is rich in plant-based butters and oils. On combination-to-oily skin prone to breakouts, it’s best reserved for localized dry areas, such as the area around the nostrils or the lip contour.

Can I use SVR Cicavit+ Ointment on my baby’s skin?

Yes: it’s suitable from birth. It has been tested under pediatric supervision on children aged 3 months to 10 years and is fragrance-free. For infants, it’s particularly useful on irritated skin around the mouth.
