When should you use these ultra-moisturizing soaps for personal hygiene?

The Cavaillès Scented Ultra-Moisturizing Soap Discovery Set includes five ultra-moisturizing bar soaps that share the same cleansing base: sweet almond oil, shea butter, olive oil unsaponifiables, and glycerin, combined into a firm bar that lathers upon contact with water. Only the fragrance varies from one soap to the next. The set lets you try them all and then choose the one you’d like to use every day at the sink or in the shower.

Each of these soaps gently cleanses the skin while helping to maintain its comfort. Its light, enveloping lather rinses off easily and leaves a subtle fragrance on the skin. Enriched with plant-based moisturizing agents, each bar helps preserve the skin’s hydrolipidic film—that thin veil of water and lipids that naturally covers the epidermis and is challenged by repeated washing.

The five fragrances cover a wide range of scents. Orange Blossom and Jasmine combines a vibrant, floral jasmine with notes of citrus blossoms. Jardin l’Original features Provençal lavender, the brand’s signature scent. Nectar de Miel features a comforting, sweet honey note, while Zeste de Verveine offers a zesty freshness. Finally, Amande Lactée offers a creamy scent of almond milk. Four of these soaps are designed for sensitive skin; Amande Lactée, enriched with olive oil, is better suited for dry skin.

These bars can be used on the hands and all over the body as part of a daily routine. The bar format works well in a shared bathroom: one bar stays by the sink for hand washing, another is used in the shower, and the gift set makes for a simple gift idea to introduce someone to the line.

After your shower, we recommend Cavaillès’ creamy body lotion, a fluid formula enriched with plant-based emollients and sweet almond oil. The soap cleanses and rinses off in just a few seconds: it leaves no residue on the skin. Applied to skin that’s just been dried, the lotion takes over and softens the skin, without changing the type of ingredients used.

How do you use these solid soaps?

Instructions for Use

Apply the soap to damp skin, work into a lather, then rinse with lukewarm water.

Precautions

  • For external use only. Avoid contact with the eyes; if contact occurs, rinse thoroughly with clean water.
  • Allergy to almonds or tree nuts: All five soaps contain sweet almond oil, and the Amande Lactée and Nectar de Miel soaps contain almond extract. Four of them also contain peach kernel oil.
  • The Nectar de Miel soap contains honey extract: avoid if you have a known allergy to bee products.
  • All five soaps are scented, and their ingredient lists include fragrance allergens (limonene, linalool, citral, coumarin—particularly in the Zeste de Verveine soap). If you have a known allergy to any ingredient, check the list for each soap before use.
  • Do not use on children under 3 years of age: the Jardin l’Original and Zeste de Verveine soaps contain camphor, and the Zeste de Verveine soap contains eucalyptus and spearmint essential oils.
  • Do not apply to broken or irritated skin. If redness, stinging, or itching occurs after use, discontinue use and consult a pharmacist or doctor.
  • Between uses, let the soap dry on a soap dish that allows it to drain, away from standing water. Keep out of reach of children.

Our expert advice on Cavaillès superfatted soaps

When choosing a soap, consider your skin type first, then the fragrance. If your skin feels tight after washing, opt for Amande Lactée; skin that reacts easily should start with a mild fragrance and save Zeste de Verveine—which has the longest list of fragrance allergens—for later. Try one soap at a time for a few days: if you have a reaction, you’ll know which one to avoid.

A superfatted soap is still a cleansing product. It preserves the skin’s comfort during washing, but it does not replace a moisturizer when the skin on your body is dry enough to flake. In this case, it’s the moisturizer applied after the shower that makes the difference, and it’s better to space out very hot showers than to use multiple soaps.

FAQ

What sets the soaps in the Cavaillès Scented Superfatted Soap Discovery Set apart from ordinary soap?

A superfatted soap contains a portion of fats that are not converted into soap during the manufacturing process. These oils and butters remain free within the bar and help replenish some of the lipids that washing strips from the skin. Ordinary soap, lacking this excess, more often leaves sensitive skin feeling tight.

Is Marseille soap comparable to the scented superfatted soaps in the Cavaillès Discovery Set?

Not quite. Traditional Marseille soap is made from vegetable oils, typically without added fragrance, and is not formulated as a superfatted soap. The soaps in the set are both surgras and scented: they’re chosen for their texture and fragrance, whereas skin that is sensitive to fragrances will likely be better suited to an unscented soap.

Can I use the soaps from the Cavaillès Scented Superfatted Soap Discovery Set on my face?

The brand intends these soaps for use on the hands and body. The face, with its thinner skin that is more prone to tightness, should be cleansed with a product specifically designed for it—especially since the five bars are scented and the eye area should be kept away from the lather.

Advice from our naturopaths

What are the benefits of surgras soap for our skin? What are the benefits of surgras soap for our skin?

It's a fact. Consumers are more and more demanding about the quality of the products they buy. For example, more and more of us are adopting organic products to take care of our body , and more particularly our skin. Likewise, manufacturers are also committing to formulas based on natural ingredients, more respectful of the body… and of the environment ! The soaps surgras are part of the latest generation dermo everyone pulls. You…
