When should you take these omega-3, 6, and 9 capsules?
Nutergia’s Ergyomega Omega-3-6-9 combines two oils in each capsule: wild fish oil, derived from byproducts of anchovy, sardine, and mackerel fishing, which provides the omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA, and virgin borage oil from the first cold press, which provides gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), an omega-6 fatty acid, as well as omega-9 fatty acids in the form of oleic acid. The formula is supplemented with vitamin E in the form of D-alpha-tocopherol.
Vitamin E helps protect cells against oxidative stress. Oxidative stress refers to an imbalance between reactive oxygen species—which are constantly produced by the body’s normal functioning—and the mechanisms that neutralize them. As a fat-soluble vitamin, vitamin E is stored in cell membranes, which are rich in fats. Even the lowest daily dose—two capsules—already provides more than the reference nutritional values.
Omega-3s and omega-6s are fatty acids that the body cannot produce from scratch: their basic forms must come from the diet. EPA and DHA are long-chain omega-3s found primarily in the flesh of fatty fish. GLA, on the other hand, is a specific omega-6 fatty acid that is rarely found in the typical diet: it is concentrated in a few seed oils, with borage being one of the richest plant sources. Oleic acid, the omega-9 in the formula, is the dominant fatty acid in olive oil. In the typical diet, however, omega-6 fatty acids from sunflower oil, prepared meals, and processed foods are abundant, while omega-3s are often lacking: which is why the role of fatty fish in weekly meal plans deserves close attention.
These capsules are useful whenthe diet leaves little room for fatty fish: sardines, mackerel, anchovies, or herring rarely appear on the menu, canola or walnut oils aren’t used for seasoning, and meals eaten on the go are becoming more common. They should be taken as a one- to three-month course, spread out over meals throughout the day, and are meant to supplement a diet that remains the primary source of fatty acids.
To complement this regimen in the fall and winter, we recommend Nutergia Ergy D Plus, a vitamin D3 supplement in drop form. Like the fatty acids in these capsules, vitamin D is a fat-soluble substance, but Ergyomega Omega-3-6-9 does not contain it: the body produces it mainly through exposure to sunlight, and this production decreases as the days get shorter. The two supplements complement each other without overlapping.

Our Expert Advice on Nutergia Ergyomega Omega-3-6-9
Before taking your first capsule, the most important factor isn’t the dose but what you’re already taking. Blood-thinning medication or a fish allergy can make all the difference: these are the two precautions you should read first—and mention if you’re buying this supplement for a loved one.
A supplement doesn’t replace the fats in your diet—it complements them. Two habits are just as important as the supplement itself: eating fatty fish once a week and using canola or walnut oil for seasoning, both of which are sources of alpha-linolenic acid. If you already follow these habits, talk to us before starting another course of treatment: taking a break between two treatment periods allows you to assess what you’re actually getting out of it.
FAQ
What’s the difference between Ergyomega Omega-3-6-9 and a supplement containing only omega-3?
An omega-3-only supplement typically concentrates fish oil to provide more EPA and DHA per capsule. Ergyomega Omega-3-6-9 takes a different approach: it divides each capsule between fish oil and borage oil, which adds GLA and oleic acid, at the cost of lower EPA and DHA levels. The former focuses on marine omega-3s, while the latter provides a balanced intake across three families of fatty acids—useful for those also seeking to meet their GLA needs, which is rare in the typical diet.
Is Ergyomega Omega-3-6-9 suitable for vegetarians?
No. The wild fish oil and fish gelatin in the capsule make it a marine-derived product, which is not suitable for either a vegetarian or a vegan diet. Plant-based sources of omega-3 include flaxseed, canola, or camelina oils, as well as algae oils.
Should Ergyomega Omega-3-6-9 be taken every day or only occasionally?
It should be taken daily for the entire duration of the course. Fatty acids are gradually incorporated into cell membranes, and irregular use—such as every other day or whenever you remember—is not effective for this type of supplement. Consistency is more important than the number of capsules taken on any given day.
