When should you use Natessance organic castor oil?

Natessance Organic Castor Oil is a 100% pure vegetable oil, extracted by first cold-pressing castor beans (Ricinus communis) and certified by Cosmos Organic. With no added fragrance, it consists of a single ingredient, naturally rich in ricinoleic acid, and is part of our hair care line, where it stands out for its thick texture.

As a strengthening oil, it is primarily used to strengthen hair and nails. When used as an oil treatment before shampooing, it is applied to the lengths and ends of the hair; during a manicure, it is massaged into the tips of the nails.

It can also be used as an eyelash treatment, applied with a brush. Its single-oil formulation makes it easy to incorporate into a simple, fragrance-free routine for those who prefer to avoid scented oils.

This oil is softening, nourishing, and strengthening, making it suitable for dry hair as well as brittle nails. Its cap unscrews for faster dispensing.

After the oil treatment, the shampoo should remove the thick oil without irritating the scalp: we recommend Klorane Extra-Gentle Daily & High-Tolerance Shampoo, a gentle shampoo suitable for frequent washing.

Our expert advice on Natessance castor oil

Castor oil is one of the thickest plant-based oils: the most common mistake is using too much. A few drops warmed between your hands are enough for the lengths of your hair, and the scalp doesn’t need any. For eyelashes, a single brush stroke is enough; it’s a nourishing treatment, so don’t expect it to make your lashes grow longer.

Significant hair loss or nails that split for no apparent reason are not issues that can be addressed with a hair oil—they require medical attention.

FAQ

Can I leave Natessance castor oil on my hair overnight?

It’s meant to be left on for 20 minutes under a warm towel. It’s not intended for overnight use, and rinsing it out is more difficult with such a thick oil.

How do I properly rinse out Natessance castor oil?

The simplest method is to apply shampoo directly to the hair while it’s still oily, work it into a lather with a little water, then rinse and shampoo a second time. This way, the oil dissolves in the shampoo instead of running off under the water.
