What is Phyto'Gem Organic Alcohol-Free Raspberry Gemmotherapy used for?

Phyto'Gem Organic Alcohol-Free Raspberry Gemmotherapy is a dietary supplement made from the young shoots of the raspberry bush (Rubus idaeus), a shrub in the Rosaceae family. It is part of the Phyto'Gem line, the gemmotherapy range from Phytofrance, a French manufacturer of herbal dietary supplements based in the Hérault region.

It is intended for people who want to undergo a gemmotherapy treatment without consuming alcohol. Its dry form—available as capsules or powder—offers an alternative to bud macerates in drop form, the most common form of gemmotherapy.

The raspberry bush is one of the plantstraditionally used in gemmotherapy, where it is employed in the form of young shoots. The two formats cater to different preferences: the capsules are convenient to carry, while the powder in a jar is better suited for people who have difficulty swallowing capsules.

To follow the treatment regimen consistently, associate each dose with a fixed time of day. If you’re unsure whether this treatment is right for you, talk to your pharmacist first: they’ll verify that it’s compatible with your health situation and with any other medications you’re already taking.

We also offer the compact Pilbox Tempo weekly pill organizer for the capsule version. Its seven compartments—one for each day of the week—can be filled all at once, and their transparent bottoms let you see at a glance whether that day’s capsules have been taken; a safety lock prevents accidental opening in a bag. It does not alter the supplement in any way—it simply helps you stay on track with your regimen.

How should you take this raspberry leaf supplement?

Directions for Use

Capsules: 3 capsules per day, to be taken with a large glass of water.

Powder: Mix one level scoop of powder (1.5 g) once a day into a liquid (water, plant-based milk).

Precautions

  • Do not exceed the recommended daily dose.
  • Dietary supplements should be used as part of a healthy lifestyle and are not a substitute for a varied and balanced diet.
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding: not recommended as a precaution. The European monograph on raspberry leaf (EMA/HMPC, 2014) advises against its use during pregnancy and breastfeeding due to insufficient data; the young shoot has not been evaluated separately. ANSES further recommends that pregnant women not take any dietary supplements without consulting a healthcare professional.
  • Children and adolescents: The same monograph advises against the use of raspberry leaf before age 18 due to a lack of data. Do not give to a child or adolescent without medical advice.
  • If you are currently taking medication or have a chronic illness, consult a doctor or pharmacist before starting this treatment.
  • Do not use if you have a known allergy to raspberry or any of the ingredients.
  • Do not combine with another product containing raspberry—such as a macerate in drop form—without consulting a pharmacist: the effects are cumulative.
  • Store the jar of capsules or powder tightly closed, under the conditions indicated on the packaging. Keep out of reach of young children.

Our expert advice on young raspberry shoots

This product is not intended for use during pregnancy. Regardless of the raspberry plant’s popular reputation, the warning regarding pregnancy and breastfeeding is critical: this is the first thing you should read, and it is why we do not recommend it for expectant mothers.

A herbal supplement is no substitute for medical advice: if you experience persistent or recurring discomfort, consult a doctor. If you’re already taking another herbal supplement, show your pharmacist the full list before adding this one—they’ll identify any potential interactions.

FAQ

What is the difference between the Phyto'Gem Organic Alcohol-Free Raspberry Gemmotherapy and the Phyto'Gem raspberry macerate I’m familiar with?

The Phyto'Gem raspberry macerate is a concentrated glycerin macerate made from young shoots, sold in a 40-ml dropper bottle and containing 18% alcohol by volume. The alcohol-free version comes in a dry form and is not dosed in drops: the dosage varies depending on the form.

Is my Phyto'Gem Raspberry made from raspberry leaves?

The Phyto'Gem line uses raspberry in the form of young shoots, not leaves. Raspberry can be used in dietary supplements in the form of its leaves, fruit, or young shoots: a raspberry leaf tea is therefore a different preparation and is not a substitute for this product.

Why is my Phyto'Gem Raspberry classified as a gemmotherapy product?

Gemmotherapy uses the young, actively growing tissues of plants: buds, young shoots, rootlets, and young bark. The young shoot of the raspberry bush fits this definition, unlike the mature leaf used in traditional herbal medicine.
