What is toxic shock syndrome?
Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS) is an extremely rare but serious infection. It is due to a toxin produced by a bacterium living on or in the human body. TBS can reach men, women and children, but about half of all cases of TSS occur in girls and women during menstruation. TBS has been associated with the use of tampons, but it can also occur during rules when no buffer is used. Because TSS can be fatal, it must be diagnosed and treated quickly. What are the symptoms: If during the menses you suddenly feel very sick when you feel well before, and you have high fever (39ºC or more), vomiting, diarrhea, headache, sore throats Throat, fainting, lightheadedness, muscle aches, rashes that look like sunburns (the symptoms may not all occur at the same time), remove the tampon as a precaution. Contact a doctor or hospital immediately. Be sure to mention the TBS and that you have your rules. TBS can manifest again, whether you use buffers or not. If you have had TSS, consult your doctor before using any new tampon.
