Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) is preventable!
Premenstrual syndrome (PMS for short) refers to the psychic and psychological symptoms that occur a few days before a woman's period. These symptoms vary from one woman to another, and for some women can be a major inconvenience. These may include irritability, fatigue, anxiety or physical complaints such as migraines, dizziness, digestive problems, insomnia, breast congestion (tension in the breasts), abdominal pain, heavy legs and weight gain, all of which disappear with the arrival of the period, which is often experienced as a relief. This complex syndrome may be due to a hormonal imbalance, i.e. an excess of estrogen and a lack of progesterone.
Natural herbal solutions exist to help alleviate the discomfort that can occur.Evening primrose is particularly well known for its ability to regulate certain hormonal functions, while at the same time acting on breast pain and tension.
On the nutritional front, vary your diet. Avoid products containing glucose syrup and hydrogenated fats. Give priority to vegetables and fruit, prefer white meats to red meats, eat small fish rich in omega-3s, if possible eat "organic" food, cook with gentle steam... Don't forget to reduce salt in your diet. As for stress management, learn and practice conscious abdominal breathing, and take the time to rest regularly by taking a short nap every day.
