What is spirulina?
Spirulina (Arthrospira platensis) is a blue-green micro-algae rich in proteins, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and essential fatty acids. Considered a superfood, it has been used for centuries for its energizing, detoxifying and revitalizing properties.

Cultivated mainly in warm alkaline waters, spirulina is prized for its high nutritional power and its stimulating effect on immunity and vitality. It is often consumed in powder, tablet or capsule form.

What are the benefits of spirulina?
Spirulina is a concentrate of essential nutrients, offering numerous health benefits:

  • Provides complete protein → Contains up to 70% protein, including all essential amino acids.
  • Boosts energy and reduces fatigue → Rich in iron, magnesium and B vitamins, ideal for athletes and tired people.
  • Strengthens the immune system → Contains powerful antioxidants (phycocyanin, beta-carotene) that protect against infection.
  • Detoxifies the body → Helps eliminate heavy metals and toxins thanks to its chelating capacity.
  • Promotes cardiovascular health → Helps regulate cholesterol, blood pressure and blood sugar levels.
  • Improves muscle recovery → Ideal for athletes, as it promotes muscle regeneration after exercise.
  • Supports weight loss → Regulates appetite and limits cravings, thanks to its satiety-inducing effect.
  • Promotes healthy skin and hair → Stimulates keratin production and protects against external aggression.
  • Reduces inflammation and protects cells → Thanks to its essential fatty acids and antioxidant pigments.

How to use spirulina?
Spirulina can be consumed in a variety of forms depending on needs and preferences:

In powder form
Added to smoothies, juices and yoghurts → Provides a nutritional boost.
Mixed into soups and sauces → To benefit from its nutrients without altering its effectiveness.

In tablets or capsules
Easy to dose and integrate into a daily routine.
Ideal for quick consumption without a strong taste.

Recommended dosage:

Start with 1 to 2 g/day, then gradually increase to 5 g/day.
For athletes, up to 10 g/day as needed.

Is spirulina beneficial for athletes?
Yes, thanks to its high protein and mineral content, spirulina :

  • Improves endurance and muscle recovery.
  • Promotes muscle mass gain, as a complement to appropriate training.
  • Combats oxidative stress, limiting post-exertion aches and inflammation.

Particularly recommended for athletes, vegetarians and people recovering from illness.

Does spirulina help with weight loss?
Yes, spirulina can be a natural slimming ally:

Regulates appetite thanks to its natural appetite-suppressant effect.
Provides essential nutrients, avoiding deficiencies during periods of caloric restriction.
Improves metabolism and fat burning.
It must be combined with a balanced diet and regular physical activity for optimum effectiveness.

Is spirulina good for skin and hair?
Yes, thanks to its high concentration of keratin, essential fatty acids and vitamins, it :

Strengthens hair and stimulates growth.
Improves skin elasticity and radiance, reducing the appearance of wrinkles and imperfections.
Fights acne and oily skin, thanks to its purifying and anti-inflammatory properties.
It is often used as a beauty cure or in homemade masks for skin and hair.

What's the difference between spirulina and chlorella?
Spirulina → Rich in protein, iron and phycocyanin, ideal for energy and recovery.
Chlorella → Richer in chlorophyll, recommended for deep detoxification and elimination of heavy metals.
The two are often complementary for synergistic action on the body.

Where to buy quality spirulina?
Spirulina-based products are available in :

Pharmacies and parapharmacies → Supplements in tablet or capsule form.
Organic and health food stores → Spirulina powder, tablets and combined with other superfoods.
Sites specializing in sports nutrition and well-being → Products certified organic and additive-free.
Local producers and aquaculture farms → For artisanal, pesticide-free spirulina.
We recommend choosing spirulina grown without heavy metals, GMOs and certified organic to guarantee its purity and efficacy.

Does spirulina have any contraindications?
Although natural, spirulina should be consumed with caution in certain cases:

  • Not recommended for people suffering from hemochromatosis (excess iron).
  • Avoid in cases of autoimmune disease, as it strongly stimulates the immune system.
  • May cause minor digestive problems at the start of the treatment (bloating, nausea).
  • Do not consume in cases of renal failure, due to its high protein and nitrogen content.
  • Check product quality, as some low-quality spirulina may contain toxins or heavy metals.
  • By taking spirulina gradually and choosing the right quality, you can enjoy its benefits without risk.
