Health Education Council:

Eye irritation is a benign and common condition.

Eyewashing is a therapeutic action that can be enough to relieve superficial irritation of the eye.

Indeed, the eye wash facilitates the elimination of foreign bodies that irritate the eye, such as sand, midges, dust, makeup debris ..., and helps to reduce the feeling of discomfort.

Other factors may cause irritation and may not respond to eyewashing. In this case, it is necessary to consult your doctor.

A substance that destroys bacteria locally, reducing their numbers and preventing their proliferation. Some antiseptics are also active on microscopic fungi and viruses.

contact lenses
Soft or rigid optical device placed on the cornea, intended to correct a defect in vision.
The lenses currently used are all plastic. There are two types :
  • Rigid lenses, more or less permeable to oxygen. Their small diameter (they do not cover the entire cornea) facilitates the oxygenation of the cornea: the oxygen in the tears can diffuse under and around the lens.
  • Soft lenses, more or less hydrophilic. They are easier to support at first, but their large diameter and limited oxygen permeability do not facilitate oxygenation of the cornea. They can pose long-term tolerance problems.
