When should you use this Color Gloss mask to revive your hair color?
Phyto Color Gloss is a 2-in-1 repigmenting mask: a rich hair treatment packed with direct dyes that settle on the surface of the hair fiber during a short processing time. It contains neither ammonia nor hydrogen peroxide: it does not involve an oxidation reaction like permanent hair color; it does not lighten the hair. It comes in four shades: Polar Blonde, Honey Blonde, Warm Chestnut, and Iced Brown. It’s designed for use as part of a color-care routine between visits to the salon.
The Polar Blonde shade is designed for bleached, gray, and white hair. Its violet pigments neutralize the yellow and brassy tones that appear over time, due to hard water or sun exposure, resulting in a cooler tone. Enriched with jojoba butter and edelweiss extract, this formula helps minimize yellowing from one week to the next.
The other three shades revive color intensity and add highlights. Honey Blonde adds golden highlights to light to dark blonde hair. Warm Chestnut warms up chestnut to brown hair. Icy Brown adds cool highlights to brown to dark brown hair and tones down unwanted warm tones. These three formulas contain panthenol, which helps protect the hair fiber.
All shades are formulated with a nourishing base of shea butter and white mallow root extract, which enhances the shine along the lengths. The mask fits seamlessly into the routine for colored hair that’s “fading” or losing its luster, helping to prolong the vibrancy of the color without needing a full color treatment.
A pigmented mask works best on hair washed with a gentle shampoo that doesn’t strip existing pigments. For this, we recommend Cattier Organic Sulfate-Free Color Shampoo: its sulfate-free cleansing formula cleanses without stripping; the mask then deposits its color onto clean, towel-dried hair.

Precautions
- A sensitivity test is recommended before use: apply a small amount behind the ear, leave on for 48 hours, then rinse. Do not use if an allergic reaction occurs. Repeat the test each time you change shades, as the dyes differ from one shade to another.
- Do not use if you have previously had a reaction to hair dye or a temporary black henna tattoo, or on an irritated or damaged scalp.
- Do not apply to eyelashes or eyebrows. In case of contact with the eyes, rinse thoroughly.
- The Honey Blonde shade is not recommended for platinum blonde or bleached hair.
- The formulas contain fragrance and benzyl alcohol.
- Close tightly after use and observe the usage period after opening as indicated on the packaging. Keep out of reach of children.

Our expert tips on the Phyto Color Gloss mask
The choice of shade is key: a direct hair color deposits pigment on top of your existing color—it never lightens it. Choose the shade closest to your current color, or one shade lighter if you’re unsure, rather than the exact shade you want. For your first application, apply to hair that’s been thoroughly towel-dried: excess water dilutes the pigments and leads to uneven results.
Before your very first application, the 48-hour patch test takes precedence over everything else: this is a precaution you should never skip, even if you’re in a hurry. While the color is setting, protect your shoulders with an old towel and rinse the sink quickly: the pigments can stain light-colored surfaces just like they do the hair shaft. A weekly application is enough to maintain the highlights without weighing down the lengths.
FAQ
Does the Phyto Color Gloss mask also work on natural, uncolored hair?
The Phyto Color Gloss Mask can be used on both natural and colored hair. The resulting shine depends on the shade chosen and the hair’s original color: it’s more visible on light or porous hair than on dark, smooth hair.
Can I use the Phyto Color Gloss mask after a Phyto hair color treatment?
Each shade of the Phyto Color Gloss mask corresponds to specific Phyto hair color shades: Polar Blonde at levels 10.0, 9.0, 9.8, 8.0, and 8.1; Honey Blonde at levels 9.3, 8.3, and 7.3; Warm Chestnut at levels 6.3, 6.77, 5.3, 5.35, 5.7, and 4.77; Glazed Brown in shades 6.0, 5.0, and 4.0. The mask then helps maintain the color between coloring treatments.
