What is Podalux™ II used for?
Podalux™ II is specially designed to support the rehabilitation of your forefoot after surgery, particularly following hallux valgus surgery. This ingenious shoe supports and protects your joint and periarticular structures , while taking into account the sensitivity of the operated area. It plays an essential role in supporting the foot and preventing any inappropriate movement during healing. Think of it as a faithful ally, helping you gradually regain the fluidity of your stride.
After bunion surgery or treatment for Morton’s syndrome, the forefoot is often sensitive and vulnerable. That’s where Podalux™ II comes in: it offers enhanced protection against impact and friction, while conforming to the shape of the foot. Thanks to its adaptable design, it accommodates any changes in volume (such as swelling or bulky bandages) to ensure optimal comfort while walking. Much like a cocoon, it adjusts effortlessly.
The inclusion of a sole with adjustable stiffness makes all the difference. Featuring two distinct levels, it can be adjusted according to the requirements of the postoperative protocol. The removable shank provides increased stiffness during the early stages of rehabilitation and can then be removed to restore a more flexible gait as healing progresses. It’s a bit like adjusting the firmness of a mattress: you tailor the shoe to your comfort and the progress of your recovery.
By using the rigid version of the arch support, you effectively limit flexion of the metatarsal joints while increasing the stability of your foot strike. As the days go by and your forefoot regains some tolerance, you can opt for a more natural gait. This transition, made possible by removing the shank, is crucial for avoiding sudden stress on the foot. Thus, Podalux™ II facilitates a consistent and gradual rehabilitation process, supporting you step by step through each stage.
Whether you’re recovering from a foot injury, seeking relief from joint pain, or looking to improve your gait, the Donjoy Podalux II shoe provides the support you need to regain your mobility and well-being.
Its ergonomic design and lightweight construction allow you to move with a noticeable sense of freedom. Even if you’re wearing a bulky bandage or experiencing swelling in the forefoot, the shoe opens wide for quick and pain-free donning. The two wide Velcro straps provide reliable support, while the included toe sock offers additional protection for the sensitive area. This design gives you peace of mind knowing that your foot stays securely in place, without the risk of further irritation.
In summary, Podalux™ II is designed for both patients in the post-operative phase of Morton’s syndrome and people who struggle to find a shoe to wear when their forefoot is swollen or injured. The key features: stability, comfort, and gradual adaptation. Thanks to its bilateral design, it can be worn on either the left or right foot and is available in no fewer than six different sizes. This ensures you’ll find the option that best suits your situation, while enjoying a sturdy, latex-free design.
This post-operative shoe provides real support in your daily life. It promotes healing, reduces discomfort, and supports a gradual return to walking, while helping to maintain your foot’s overall balance. Whether you’re dealing with hallux valgus, joint protection, or simply have trouble putting on shoes, Podalux™ II offers a world of comfort and safety. Thanks to its adaptability and well-thought-out design, you’ll enjoy a practical, reassuring solution that benefits your mobility.
How do you use Podalux™ II?
To put on the Podalux™ II correctly, first open the two hook-and-loop fasteners, then gently slide your foot inside. If your doctor has recommended maintaining significant stiffness, leave the removable arch support built into the sole in place. However, if your rehabilitation allows for a little more flexibility, you can remove this arch support:
Remove the insole.
Remove the arch support.
Reinsert the insole.
Once your foot is properly positioned, fasten the straps, starting with the one closest to your toes, then adjust the second one so that the shoe fits snugly around your forefoot.
