What is Sedermyl's composition?

Sedermyl 's strength lies in its unique composition, combining effectiveness and gentleness.

  • Isothipendyl hydrochloride: 0.75 g, the main active ingredient with remarkable antipruritic properties.
  • Sodium edetate, an agent that contributes to the cream's stability.
  • Cetostearyl alcohol emulsifier (type A) (Lanette N®), which ensures a pleasant texture and easy application.
  • Oleic acid decylester (Cétiol V®), which helps active ingredients penetrate the skin.
  • Cetyl alcohol, for emollient and moisturizing properties.
  • Propylene glycol, a humectant that helps retain moisture in the skin.
  • Purified water, used as the cream's base for gentle, irritation-free application.

These components combine to create an effective and safe cream, adapted to the needs of even sensitive skin.

Presentation and storage

Sedermyl 0.75% Cream is presented in an aluminum tube, available in a 35 g size. This choice of material ensures optimum protection of the active ingredients from light and air, prolonging the product's efficacy. The high-density polyethylene or polypropylene cap ensures hermetic closure, facilitating transport and storage of the cream.

For optimum preservation, keep the tube tightly closed, away from heat and humidity. Shelf life after opening is generally indicated on the packaging, so be sure to follow the instructions to maintain product integrity.

Warnings

Pruritus is only a symptom. In all cases, its etiology must be sought out and treated. Persistent or worsening pruritus may be linked to an allergy to one of the ingredients in the preparation. In the absence of data on cutaneous resorption, the risk of systemic effects cannot be ruled out. It is all the more likely to occur when the topical is used over a large surface area, under an occlusive dressing, on injured skin (particularly burns), mucous membranes, or on the skin of premature babies or infants (due to the surface/weight ratio and the occlusive effect of layers at the seat).

LEXICON

alcohol

General name for a family of substances that can be mixed with water and fats. The most common alcohol is ethyl alcohol (ethanol), but there are many other alcohols, such as methanol and butanol. The degree of an alcoholic solution corresponds to the volume of pure alcohol present in 100 ml of solution, bearing in mind that 1 balloon glass of wine or 1 half of beer (25 cl) contains around 8 g of alcohol.

When alcohol is used as an antiseptic, an unpleasant-smelling denaturant is often added to prevent it from being drunk. Contrary to popular belief, 70° (or even 60°) alcohol is a better antiseptic than 90° alcohol.

See article: Alcohol dependence

allergy

Skin reaction (itching, pimples, swelling) or general discomfort following contact with a particular substance, the use of a medicine or the ingestion of a food. The main forms of allergy are eczema, urticaria, asthma, angioedema and allergic shock (anaphylactic shock). Food allergy can also lead to digestive problems.

antihistamine

Medication that counteracts the various effects of histamine. There are two main types: H1-type antihistamines (antiallergic) and H2-type antihistamines (gastric antiulcer). Some H1-type antihistamines are sedative, while others do not affect alertness.

antipruritic

Describes a product that combats itching (pruritus).

eczema

Skin disease manifested by pimples and intense itching. Eczema can be caused by contact with an allergenic substance (contact eczema) or by a genetic predisposition (atopic eczema).

See article: Atopic dermatitis (atopic eczema)

photosensitization

Abnormal sensitivity of the skin to light or ultraviolet rays, caused by a drug or a natural or chemical substance.

See article: Photosensitization.

allergic reaction

Reaction caused by the body's hypersensitivity to a drug. Allergic reactions can take many forms: urticaria, angioedema, eczema, measles-like rash, etc. Anaphylactic shock is the most common form of allergic reaction. Anaphylactic shock is a generalized allergic reaction that causes a sudden drop in blood pressure.

See article: Can you be allergic to drugs?

ultraviolet

Ultraviolet rays are radiation emitted naturally by the sun or artificially by certain lamps. A distinction is made between UV A and UV B. Short-wave UV B rays are stopped in the outermost layers of the skin. They are responsible for sunburn. UV A, with its longer wavelength, penetrates deeply and reaches the dermis. They induce pigmentation (tanning). Intense and repeated exposure to UV rays causes premature aging of the skin and increases the risk of skin cancer.

Abbreviation: UV.
